I really didn't like this book which is a shame because I have really enjoyed some of his past books. I found the story to be a slog and I found the payoff at the end to be disappointing.

Pitch Dark had its moments that really grabbed me. It also had moments that were telegraphed and or predictable. All in all an interesting book and I look forward to seeing what the author has up his sleeve for later books.

Coss genre and multi genre books are hard to pull off. I love the idea behind this book but the execution sometimes left me cold. Your mileage may vary.

An intense, interesting and fascinating glimpse into a crime culture that few see. Other cultures crime organizations play an important role on the global stage. Very interesting.

I've been a fan of Duane Swierczynski's for years now and with Hell and Gone he just keeps getting better and better. Great characters. Great action.

Interesting characters and story. Ryu Murakami always has something to say about contemporary Japanese society and Popular Hits of the Showa Era is no different. Lots of violence.

Wire to Wire is a beautifully written literary crime novel. It is filled with damaged people who are on a collision course with each other. They can't help but run in to, over and through each other as their lives, actions and relationships fill them with an ache. Things won't end well for them
Death Wish-esque revenge novel from Gutter Books has a lot of action but is problematic
This look at the early work of an American Master is an eye-opener. You can see some of the pieces that are in play in the first book that will grow over the second book until the third book reveals a style closer to his later work. Great crime novels, great characters, great dialog.

An interesting book that offers a commentary on how men see women and often how wrong they are. In many ways it's about men and not the woman who would seem to be the central character.

Mullen spends too much time drawing the parallels between the past economic problems with the current ones. There were some remarkable moments though and the book was good but it just got bogged down at times like he was forgetting to just tell the story. Wait for the paperback

As with the first book the central premise undermines the tension of the story as the reader is never sure of what is “real”. Liked it but didn’t love it.
