I love the premise behind this book and the message is beautiful. But ... I cannot get past calling God "She/ Her" and that is my own personal issue I know and absolutely nothing against the author. I was raised very traditionally and biblically and that just goes against my own personal beliefs. Again, the message of love is absolutely beautiful, but this book just isn't for me and I won't be buying it for my personal collection.
Thank you LibraryThing for the giveaway and the opportunity to give an honest review.

This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. My first response to this was that the book was really too much for me and I honestly felt like I was following a train wreck and couldn't stop despite knowing things would not end well. That being said, just because I didn't like it, does not mean others won't.
After digesting the book for a while and looking up more about the author, I have to give the book much more credit than I initially did. The book is an autobiotraphical fiction account of a soldier coming home from Iraq damaged from all that he experienced as a medic in the war. I have to give Nico Walker credit for trying to make sense of his experience. The book definitely reads much more like a memoir than a work of fiction and it would be interesting to know how much of the story is more fact than fiction.

Breaking Night: A Memoir of Forgiveness, Survival, and My Journey from Homeless to Harvard by Liz Murray
Love love loved this book! I thought I had to go through some crazy hurdles to overcome my obstacles in life but it was nothing like what Liz went through. I love memoirs and this one is at the top of my lost for sure. Keep sharing your story!
I received this book as a Goodreads giveaway and I was so excited because it has been on my TBR list for quite a while. I got about 50 pages in and all I could think was this is just mindless rambling! BUT ... in an effort to do an honest review I kept going. Well, I am glad I did. I ended up catching myself laughing at some of the things Lawson did, said, or experienced and she was so brutality honest about it and I really appreciate that. Other times I was nodding my head because I totally and completely related to her experiences or thoughts ... which might be kind of scary, but that is beside the point. All and all, I am really glad I read this book! Was it life changing? Not really. Did it comfort me and help me know that I am not alone in this world and other people have their quirks and personal issues? ABSOLUTELY!
Excellent book for a cold New Year's day! Loved it much better than the movie but still enjoyed both. Quick, fast paced, and plenty of suspense.
Girl, Wash Your Face: Stop Believing the Lies About Who You Are so You Can Become Who You Were Meant to Be by Rachel Hollis
Absolutely positively love this book! Take it for what it is. Realize that it was written to inspire, encourage, and remind you that you are not alone in this crazy crazy world. It is SO hard to be a Jesus loving, momma, wife, and working woman. Thank you Rachel Hollis for being so open and honest with your struggles.
This book needs to be a part of every child's book collection! Fun reading for bedtime ... or anytime really.
What a wonderful book that illustrates the power of practicing what you preach. You never know when your children are watching you and what they are thinking. As a wife of a pastor and mom of 3 boys, this book really captured what I hope my boys see when they watch their dad. I loved the illustrations as well, which capture the love the father and son have for each other. The illustration for "December Morning" shows the father praying at the window and I think it is meant to be from the son's perspective, because he looks almost larger than life which is the way I imagine the young boy sees his dad.
Thank you Jen Hatmaker for making me feel human and normal in all my imperfections.
Still great ... and there will be another one next summer!!!!
Wow! Very good book! I read it in less than 2 days but it does leave you wanting more.
First I will mention that I have tried to read this book multiple times over the past 7 years and have never been able to get past the first couple chapters. That being said, I finally took the time to read it and I am so thankful I did. I've had many people tell me that this series is life-changing and I must agree.
Take the time to get through the first 80 or so pages, and know that Rivers has to give the history for you to understand the storyline and the characters. It is worth it!!!
This book is of course Christian historical fiction, and the setting takes place 40 years after Jesus' death. The characters represent many different aspects of Christianity and it is truly beautiful. The story and the writing are both amazing and will leave you searching your self and where you stand in your Christian walk. Read it, digest it, and search for more in your own walk with Christ.

Beautiful conclusion to the Cedar Key novels.
Amazing!!! What a journey, and one I am so glad I went on. Rivers has done an amazing thing with this historical romance and the journey of faith, love, and forgiveness. Beautifully written.
My life verse is "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight." This book captured that scripture in all the characters, and in different ways for each of them.
These books are truly life changing if you will allow the words in and let them speak to your heart. Take the time to digest the deeper meaning of the story and seek clarification and understanding in His word.

I would really rate this more of a 3.5 than a 4. Good story, twisty mystery, but not as gripping and catching as I hoped. Still worth reading though, and I will try her other book, "Reconstructing Amelia".
I was somewhat reluctant to read this book after reading the reviews and knowing that it leaves characters behind and takes a different path than the first 2 books.
Let me just say, I am so glad I took the time to read this story. What an amazing journey. God is real, God is powerful, and God will never leave or forsake those who love Him.
The story takes you through the struggles of faith, anger, fear, forgiveness, love, and loss, while keeping you in the scripture, further strengthening your faith.
"Dear brothers and sisters, be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. Your anger can never make things right in God's sight." James 1:19-20

I have completely enjoyed this series and love the writing style. Everson has done a fantastic job giving the back story of all the characters without loosing you in the shifts in characters. I am completely connected to all the characters and can't wait to start book #3. I have decided my next vacation will be Cedar Key, FL.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story from beginning to end and cannot wait to read the other 2 books of the series. In reading the prologue I felt like I was reading my divorce story...seriously. My name is Kim, my ex is Charlie, and I have 2 boys! It was slightly creepy. I only wish I could have run off to a town like Cedar Key. I honestly feel the story is very well written. I love the glimpses into the past of the characters, and I can seriously relate to the 5 weeks of summer spent without your children after a divorce.
This book will keep you guessing until the end. Well written and fast paced. A story about bullying, revenge, social status, and the emotional struggles that face high schoolers today.
This was my 3rd Natalie Richards book to read and I LOVE her writing style. I am literally hooked within the first chapter. Well balanced romance, mystery and suspense.
Wow, wow, wow!! I read the first 2 chapters of this in a preview and I couldn't wait to get my hands on the book. Such a great book!
To start with, I do not read a lot of fantasy, but I had the opportunity to attend a YA panel with Maas, and she won me over. I couldn't wait to read this book and I was not disappointed. I quickly became lost in the world she created, and my only disappointment is that I have to wait for the next title. Beautifully well written with a perfect balance of fantasy, family loyalty, battle scenes and of course a great romance. I can't wait to read the Throne of Glass series while I wait for the next book in the series.
I do not give many books 1 star, but I was not impressed with this book at all. I normally really like memoirs, and I really thought this one would be very fun, but I was wrong. Overall, the writing was subpar, the organization was choppy, and the content itself was boring. I kept reading, hoping I would find something worth a positive review, but I never did. I really like Jennifer Niven, but I would not recommend this title.
WOW!! Such an emotional read, and you really cannot put it down. In a tragic situation, 50 minutes can feel like hours, and this book truly captures that feeling. I have really had to digest the book, and have not been able to word a review yet.
What a fantastic book! I received an ARC copy from Sourcebook.
First, the book grabbed my attention from the very beginning and I actually stayed up until 4am finishing it. I simply couldn't find a stopping point.
I love that the story is told from a 17 year old young man's point of view. You get the raw emotions of struggling to step up and be a dad in the midst of terrible circumstances I love the relationship between Ryden and his mother. It is very refreshing to see a positive parental relationship between a single mom and her son. Truly a well told story!

Great information but not the most well written book. Very dry and really nothing more then stacks of information bound together. I love learning about deaf culture but I would not have finished this book had it not been required reading.
I was somewhat reluctant to read this based on the reviews, but it has sat on my bookshelf a couple of years now and I decided to give it a shot. I am honestly very glad I read it and am in the middle of the 2nd book in the series and still enjoying it.
As a wife of a pastor and a part of many different church functions and a wide range of people and personalities, I have been able to relate to many of the characters and the situations they face.
Overall...If you are looking for a quick read with a good storyline but not too emotionally draining, this is a good choice.

Great book for young readers. I read it more or less to try to find some good books for our middle school girls at my library.
I have always enjoyed reading Patterson's adult fiction and I was excited to try his new young adult release. I must say I am pleasantly surprised. I wasn't sure what to expect and was caught emotionally off guard midway through the book when I had to reach for the tissues. I don't want to give anything away, but be sure to read the introduction and have to tissues handy.
Great great book!! I received a copy of this book to add to our collection at my library. I put off reading it this summer and then picked it up on a whim on my way out of town for the week. What a surprise. I couldn't put the book down! I can't wait to read more titles by Pamela Fagan Hutchins
