Take My Hand by Nicola Haken is a story set in England and features a naive and innocent British girl (Emily) and the hot, bike-riding American bad boy (Dexter). They are classmates in a sociology class in London together.
I love the TESCO and Marks & Spencers references Emily makes. I'm from England and I totally get the point being made. Rachel is a riot. Her list, outrageous!
We slowly get to know the characters and their secrets as the book progresses. Both Emily & Dex have sad pasts. The secret of Dex's takes a long while to be revealed. There's a lot of hot lovin' and plenty of angst. There is also a cliffhanger ending, but, fear not, book two (Hold on Tight) is already out (Phew!).
Get the tissues, some chocolate and a glass of wine ready and settle in and enjoy the read!

Forgiven by Rebecca Brooke is a tragic and beautiful and ultimately forgiving tale of overcoming your past and learning to move forward. Told from both Caleb and Angie's points of view, this story slowly builds your insight into their past and how it has built the people they are today. The beautiful thing about their relationship is that you also get to see how their love heals who they were.
Caleb is a loner, he gets along with his roommate Josh because neither one has any desire to dig into their pasts. They each have things best left forgotten. Caleb denies his attraction to Angie for as long as possible believing he does not deserve her, but the feelings he has for her outweigh his desire to protect her from himself.
Angie has dealt with emotional and verbal abuse for almost as long as she can remember so when her history professor assigns Caleb as her project partner and she gets a rude brush off from him she knows it's the last thing she needs. Well, almost the last thing, a failing grade for not working as a team on this project is the LAST thing she needs.
Together they grow stronger and learn to forgive themselves for the bad things that have happened to them.

My Real by Mallory Grant is a beautiful tale of secret love and how if it's meant to be it will eventually be.
It took twelve years and two divorces for Bailey and Andrew to have their chance at love.
The book opens in college, with Andrew fixated on Bailey from across the room but unhappily for them both, Bailey's bestie Jessica has eyes for Andrew. Bailey knows that if Jessica wants something it's hers so the three of them end up becoming best friends, Bailey the third-wheel to Andrew and Jessica's relationship.
Some major drama happens right before graduation and when Jessica starts her job as a third-grade teacher she is distraught (still) over the loss of her best friend. Thankfully a much more worthy person steps in and becomes Baileys true friend, Ella.
A super cute love story that will leaving you feeling all warm and fluffy by the end.

Goodbye Girl by Scarlett Metal is about Rachels' escape from an abusive relationship and the chance meeting with Clint.
Her life's in an uproar and she is on the run so when a sparks fly at a chance encounter with a sexy cowboy Rachel accepts his offer of a job and works for him at his ranch.
Full of angst, steam, and sweetness this was a really good book. Not what I was expecting and pleasantly surprised.

Boone Outlaw has always known that Holy Mary Verity Fairchild has been off-limits, especially from someone like himself, but that hasn't stopped him from being drawn to her. Verity has always acted like she hates him even though he's never done anything to her (that he remembers).
A small town with secrets to be kept hidden and secret desires that refuse to stay down. Yet another awesome tale from this author. Now? the wait for book three...A Perfect Dilemma

Marion Croslydon by Fast Forward is the second book in the Second Chances series.
Where the first book was about the past, it's mistakes, and trying to fix them now and rediscover the love Josh and Cassie had for each other in the beginning, this one is the beginning of that rediscovery and the attempted recovery of their son Lucas.
Given up for adoption in secret so that Josh could accept his entrance to georgetown and make something of himself, Cassie now has, with Josh's help, the chance to adopt her own son back. The couple that initially adopted him died in a car accident in book one and he has been in foster care.
Now, not only do Josh and Cassie have to overcome the brutal facts of the past five years apart and the damage the secrets and obliviousness have caused, they have to work together as a couple to be approved for adopting their own flesh and blood.
This book is that journey and it's a wonderful one. Ups and downs for sure so have a few tissues handy, but there is no cliffhanger ending so you may remain calm.

No Reverse by Marion Croslydon is the first book in the series.
I love when a book plays out like a movie, but in words. Oh I could just see this whole thing playing out in my head as I read. The drama, the betrayal, the longing, the sadness, the difficulty of being torn between two people. WOW!
Cassie and Josh are the IT couple in high school until Cassie gets pregnant and they have a shotgun wedding. Josh is accepted to georgetown and Cassie tells him she wants to have an abortion.
Five years later Josh is successful, engaged, and has to tidy up one little thing - the fact that he's still, technically, married to Cassie.
Cassie is served her divorce papers on the same day another set of documents arrive - both things knocking her sideways. So she carts herself off to England to confront Josh and try to salvage what she can of the wreck her life has become.
Any more details and I'll ruin the best bits. A must-read book for sure.

SAIL AWAY WITH ME by Kate Deveaux is a romance that starts with the cruise but doesn't end there. It goes way beyond falling in love onboard.
Jody is recently divorced and on a cruise with her three best friends that one of them won in a promotion. First thing she does is nearly lose her shoe. Thankfully a handy beefcake Prince Charming bringers her show back to her...
"Whose is this?" holding the petite sandal high in his hand, parting the crowd searching for the owner of the shoe.
-Taggart Keith, beefcake of this tale
Despite trying to keep her distance, the famous self-help author just won't give up. He positively pushes his way through her boundaries and into her heart. It's what happens after the cruise that make this more than a quick steamy romantic read. They live on opposite coasts and she cannot uproot her life, not with her son, dad and best friends all living in Beacon Bay. But will the successful author be able to leave his busy Miami life?
Sail away with Jody and Taggart and find out for yourself.

Don't Forget to Breathe by Melinda Harris is a quick and quirky story of family, wealth, standing up for yourself, and, well duh, love!
Jules is basically a doormat for her family, friends co-workers. she has a kind heart and does for others when and where she can. But this does give her the air of being, for sake of repeating myself, a doormat. When she decides she's over it, it begins.
Andrew is a bit of a jerk. He can't seem to settle on a way to act and there were moments that made me so frustrated with/at him. Men! But if I've also never claimed to be entirely stable when it comes to book boyfriends, liking all the unstable ones...(John Zane, Jesse Ward, Sean Ferro, Anthony Rawlings...etc)
This book has it's funny moments, some snarky humor, but I recommend having some tissues handy too. Just to be on the safe side.
A Very enjoyable read!

The Wild One by Magan Vernon is book three of six in the serialized novel series Forever Wild.
Book One (One Wild Night) had Wes and Valerie waking up hitched in Vegas. Wes discovers that Valerie is only beginning in her career and is not the "Sugar Mama" he thought she was. Surprisingly, he's okay with this. Valerie's pretty awesome so he's a winner whichever way he sees it. Valerie is disbelieving. What on earth could someone as good-looking and fit as Wes possible want with her now he knows she's not a proverbial "Cash Cow"? The try to get divorced but as neither is a legal resident of the state they are not able to.
Book Two (Wild Hearts) Sees Wes and Valerie on a plane back to Chicago. He's going to stay with her while they file of divorce in her state of residence. Wes is fortunate enough to make the not-so-pleasant acquaintance of Val's roommate Paige. At least the cat likes him. When they are awakened in the middle of the night by Max, a "friend" of Val's, looking for a booty call Wes gets very mad and very jealous. Even if he wasn't right there, she deserves better than that. He decides he doesn't want a divorce, now he just has to convince Valerie she's worthy and to stay married.
And then we get to this book. The midway point in the series...
Told from Wes' point-of-view, we get to learn a little more about his home life and what happened to cause him to leave Alabama and football behind and end up stripping in Vegas. There's a moment or two between him and Paige show more where he realizes she may not be all bad and she calls him out on his true feelings for Val. Throw in some extra drama in the guise of Max the Booty Call and an ending that I should have seen coming but really didn't and once again you find me on edge waiting for the next installment. show less

Favorite Places by Kelly Gendron is the second book in her TroubleMaker series. The star of the tale...A piece of luggage that happens to have a long lost twin. No, not really, but it does pretty much all begin with the luggage!
Jessina bumps into Chase, quite literally, on the trolley from the airport. They both have the same luggage and there's a massive mix up. So massive that they find out six months later that they are actually married and need to get their "Marriage" annulled.
Chase has a very low opinion of women. In his own personal experience they are only out for one thing, money. When Jessina storms into his office demanding an annulment he's all on board. Until he realizes that there is something she can help him with before he signs the papers.
This was a humorous, romantic story of how your past shapes you and not always for the good. It's a story about becoming strong enough to change and overcome your past in order to enjoy your now and to make a better future for yourself.
I'm eager to read more from this author.

Broken Fences by Kelly Gendron is the first book in her TroubleMaker series.
Dusty has moved on past the broken-fence and Colden James and the night she lost her virginity. It was either move on or mope miserably for SIX whole years. Besides, his brother Jimmy said he's married with three kids. Definitely time to move on right? Except when Colden steps back into town and into her bar he walks straight back into her heart.
Colden has been working undercover for the FBI for the past six years and made one stupid mistake. He's been carrying around a picture of Dusty this whole time. Now it's missing and his cover might have been blown. He heads back to Odessa and watches over her from the shadows. The bad guys have seen her picture but there's no way they're ever gonna lay a hand on the woman he loves.
When Colden finds out his little brothers wedding is just weeks away he emerges from the shadows, now having a legitimate reason to be home after all this time. Now if only he can convince Dusty that she belongs to him, that he's not really married with three kids and that he has always loved only her...
A lot of funny, a little action, plenty of heat and voila! You have one great story on your hands. I especially liked how acquiescent Dusty becomes when Colden gets his "Commanding" voice during their intimate moments.

Steal My Heart by Lisa Eugene is H. O. T. ! Um, more details? Ex Navy SEAL turned hired retrieval expert (read as Thief) falls for his "hostage" and causes all kinds of turmoil in her EXTREMELY neat and ordered life. She is a germophobe borderline OCD personality and is practically forced to perform CPR on a dying homeless man on the subway one night. Well, he's not dying and didn't need the CPR, but he didn't mind it either (*Wink*).
Gabe Masters has a dark and troubled past which we slowly learn more of. What he doesn't expect from his latest job is to feel so strongly attracted to the Nurse he embroils in his plans. He hasn't felt this way in a very long time, if ever.
The plot keeps you guessing as to who set him up and who is betraying who. Maggie's inner monologue about her growing attraction to Gabe and how it must be Stockholm syndrome and Gabe's lascivious thoughts mixed with his restraint is a pleasure to read and is quite humorous.
I'm definitely liking the author's style and will be moving on to read the next book in this series.

The Twelve Days of Seduction by Maire Claremont is a beautiful short story about love, respect and overcoming the separation of social classes.

Incubus by Rachel Bateman is the first part in a set of serial novels based in our world but with a paranormal twist.
Kyle (I pronounce Kylie in my head) has strange dreams and a stranger man that visits her in them. The strangest part of all, he comes into the diner that she works in every day, regular as clockwork.
There's a serial killer on the loose but there's much more to that story and it seems as though Kyle and her detective father may get more involved in trying to stop the bad things that are happening in their small town.
A good introduction to the series that has my interest piqued.
Although I can't help but think of an interview I listened to by the beloved Robert Jordan where his characters were called to do great things to save the world and basically they smiled, nodded and hauled butt out the back door. Kyle's character seems to be saying "sign me up".

Ransom by Denise Mathew is the first book in the Holding Ransom series. This is a massively powerful book. Massive! Phew! Where do I start?
It's a romance and there's some decently steamy scenes, but it's also a journey. It's Lexie's and Ransom's journey towards each other, and fate, and tragedy.
Lexie loses her mom and in her grief goes on a wild hunt for a psychic or medium that will allow her to talk to her mom one last time. Her grief and desperation cause her to be become very single-minded in her goal.
Ransom has always been his father's designated scapegoat and punching bag, ever since his mom died. He sticks around and takes it in order to stay with and take care of his younger brother Gabriel. Gabriel has juvenile arthritis and has mobility and pain issues. He is also a healer/medium of sorts and is Pa's cash cow.
The tension in both Lexie's and Ransoms lives escalates until their first actual meeting and things get better and worse from there.
This book ends on a cliffhanger and there is no news on when book two will be out as of the time of this review, but I hope it is soon. Not what I expected and I'm glad I got the chance to read this.

Not Over You by Marquita Valentine is very beautiful tale.
A difficult childhood and adolescence have left their marks on Summer Holland. The one time she desperately needed her best friend and first love to believe in her was the one time he failed her. She has never forgiven him.
Gabriel Edwards has always loved Summer. He let her down once in the most uinforgivable way and he's been doing everything he can to make it up to her ever since. It's cost him along the way, dropping everything and everyone when she needs him, but it's Summer and there is no other way he would be.
Despite my OCD like need to read every book in a series, even if they can be standalone novels, I managed to dive right into this one and not get to itchy about not having reast the previous seven novels/novellas.
There's a VERY slight mystical flavor to the story. Summers sister Rose owns an apothecary and has The Sight. Summer is also very much at one with nature. It's such a beautiful tale. Heart beaking and uplifting at the same time. I will definitely be reading the other books in the series (in order of course).

Me After You by Mindy Hayes is an amazing book. Filled with angst and regret and guilt and first true love. Oh I was so hooked. I love when a book literally has me in its grip when the emotions run high. You know, that grip on your heart squeezing a little at the pain of your characters.
Sawyer is back home much to her dismay. It's been weeks and nothing is getting easier. Nothing. Her husband is dead. ointlessly dead and he's never coming back. Now she' sback in Willowhaven where she swore she'd never be again and she's just learned Dean is back too. she's the only one that didn't know. Her mom, her best friend, they never said anything! Dean is her one that didn't just get away, he practically ran away screaming. She thought him leaving her was going to kill her but she picked up and moved to Seattle and met Grayson. But now he's gone too.
Dean didn't think he'd ever see Sawyer again, but now maybe he has a chance to set things right. If she will let him. Oh, and while he's doing that he should probably decide what to do with his girlfriend Lily. What a mess. He left for a reason but never told her why. He didn't mean to come back to Willowhaven but perhaps it's fate that they both be here now. Or maybe it's just a dandelion wish.
A beautiful must-read (pack your own tissues, chocolate and wine)!

Heart Breaths by K.K. Hendin is a beautiful story of loss, love, pain, guilt and redemption.
Maddie has suffered one too many tragedies. One too many betrayals. She is out, gone, leaving her life behind. She is leaving Manhattan far behind in her rearview and winds up in Eno, North Carolina. A sleepy little coastal town. Can the people she meets here manage to get through her walls and into her heart?
Day by day Maddie's past loses the grip it has on her heart and her hope. She slowly gains more confidence in her self and her choices and lets the guilt of her past go.
A beautiful story with some very goose-bumpy, hair-raising moments that will completely surprise you.

A Deal with Benefits by Susanna Carr is a page-turning angst fest of attraction, passion and past mistakes. Holy cow! The last few chapters had me in a vice grip while I waited to see the outcome of this romance!

Christmas at the Gingerbread Cafe by Rebecca Raisin is the cutest small-town, christmas spirit, warm and fuzzy holiday short story I've ever read!
Lily tries to go head to head in a competition against the HOT new shop-owner across teh street. It's Christmas time and Home-baked goods is not the most lucrative business venture but it's what she loves. But now Damon is infringing on her already small customer base.
Damon just wants to get along with everyone, including the feisty beauty across the street. Can they join forces and together make this a better Christmas than they could apart.
A very quick, heart-warming tale. Perfect for the holiday season.

Tango Love by Nicole Flockton
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Tango Love by Nicole Flockton is a short, steamy tale of friends becoming lovers then becoming more.
This book was like the best part of a romantic movie. No waiting for the buildup and background story, we get to join in and watch the yummy parts unfold and the clothes come off.
Melinda's liked James ever since she agreed to make him her housemate two years ago and they fast became friends.
After James scares away a potential hookup at the nightclub, he asks Melinda to dance the Tango and things blaze super-hot from there.

Kiss Me at Midnight by Diane Alberts is a seasonal holiday story about having someone close at the holidays. Even if it's just for one night with no strings attached.
Well, no strings is what Ashley thought she wanted, even though she was secretly hoping her old high school best friend Ethan would show.
She's moved back to her home town to finish her residency as a local doctor. She heard he's back to visit his family for the holidays and that he might just show at the local bar. But he hasn't spoken to her since New Years Eve their senior year in high school and she STILL has no clue why.
Ethan's back in his much hated home town. He's not the nerd he used to be, the one that was always bullied and pushed around, but he still can't stand it here. He just wants to lose himself for a couple of hours between the legs of a willing partner and the woman standing at the bar reminding him of Ashley from the back is a perfect candidate.
So what happens when the look alike really is Ashley and he has a whole lot of apologizing to do for tuning her out nine years ago? Well my lovelies, that's the patr where you say "ooh this sounds cute and funny (and steamy) and I should definitely read this book".
A hawt romance that not only dishes the love, but also covers a little of how it feels as an adult to have been bullied as a child and how that affects life choices. Oh, and forgiveness, we get to see some of that kind of warm and fuzzy happening too.
I really have enjoyed Everything I have show more read from this author so far under this name and under Jen McLaughlin. show less

Twisted Lines by Breena Wilde, book six in the Blurred Lines series, was almost the last book, but Cadence, Zane and Cruze were not ready for their stories to end. They will have a chance to finish their tale in books seven, False Lines, and eight, Gratifying Lines.
Zane has disappeared, leaving the path wide open for Cadence and Cruze to finally be together. Will it be enough? Or will life still find ways to keep them apart?
Book five, Irresistible Lines, left us wondering where Zane had disappeared to and, more importantly, why he left? Cadence is still reeling from his abscence, realizing too late that she was coming to care very deeply for him. Zane knows he cannot be there for her so he makes it possible for Cruze to step in and be there for Candace.
While we still don't know why Zane had to leave, we do at least find out who Rita is. The dynamics between Cruze and Cadence have also changed. His behavior throughout this book mostly made me root for Zane instead of him. He's not really a jerk to her, but he doesn't appeal to me quite as much now that Zane is out of the picture. Perhaps it's just me, perhaps it has something to do with him no longer being forbidden and therefore has lost most of his appeal.

Master of the Opera, Act 2: Ghost Aria by Jeffe Kennedy is the second book in a set of six serialized novels.
Is the Opera Ghost (AKA Master) real? or is he a figment of Cristy's imagination? It has been alluded to that she has mental issues in her past, possibly from a traumatic event. She is beginning to question the validity of the things she has seen.
When she gets to spend some up close and personal time with the Master and he tells her...
I'd prefer you to accept my ropes under other circumstances
then, when she refuses to drink wine with him he also says...
I'm not interested in using drugs to entice your submission, Christine.
it is totally Smokin' HAWT.
Roman's motives and personality are questioned by a couple of characters and the sudden turn from megabitch to happy chick is also suspicious.
As this is the second book and the plot is still building not too much happened, but it's coming. I can feel it!

Master of the Opera Act 1: Passionate Overture by Jeffe Kennedy is the first in a set of six serialized fantasy BDSM novels that take a modern and erotic twist to the Phantom of the Opera tale we all know in some way or another.
I'm wavering between a 3-star and 4-star rating as there wasn't any erotic scenes contained in this first book, and let's be honest, that's what i'm reading this for. However, I do declare this a page turner - I MUST find out who the heck the Master is and who was responsible for Tara's disappearance. I'm going to rate 4-stars as I see this being a 4 or 5 star series by the time I'm finished.
So, I like spoilers. I like to know what I'm getting into and I'm not great with surprises. When I don't know what to expect I tend to get edgy and over think things. This goes mostly for books and movies. Once I realized that this story's "world" was one where strange things happen, and, from what I have inferred so far, the Phantom of the Opera doesn't exist, I was able to better immerse myself in the story. If it was me, knowing about the Phantom musical and working in an opera house with a supposed phantom, you'd get massive eye-rolls at the ridiculousness. But Christy, having no idea of Gerard Butler's fabulousness as the Phantom, is only aware that all opera houses have their share of "ghosts" and remains aloof, until he leaves her a rose...
The tale is set in Santa Fe, New Mexico and the author has done a magnificent job of bringing the beauty of the town show more and the scenery to life with her words. My sister used to live in Santa Fe and I had the pleasure of visiting there a few times when I was younger and it truly is the Land of Enchantment. show less

Entangled Moments by Dori Lavelle is the first book in the Moments in Time series. It has a cliffhanger ending that will leave you groaning in frustration until the next book is out. You are a wicked woman indeed Dori lavelle. Wicked.
Carlene is just barely keeping it together each day until she meets Nick. They are both paying their respects at a local chapel and he asks her to go for coffee. In a perfectly quaint scenario she has an almost slip and fall and he catches her and leans in to kiss her good and proper in the middle of the coffee shop.
After this inspiring event and with the encouragement of a dear friend, Carlene sets out to come to terms with the tragic past and take slow and steady steps forward.
As the title suggest, the characters in this tale are entangled in each other before they are even aware of the how or why of it.
The book is about 100 pages (i.e. shortish) so the characters develop quickly and events happen steadily. You won't be bored. Romance, a little heat, a whole lot of angst, and a really sweet tale (albeit with a wicked cruel cliffhanger ending)(*groans*).

Wild Hearts by Magan Vernon is the second book in the Forever Wild series.
Valerie and Wes are on he plane heading back from Vegas to Chicago. Wes is the lucky sonofagun flying first class while poor Val is stuck in coach. What's that Wes? The mile-high club? ooh, yes please. Apparently the bathrooms are much bigger in first class (I didn't know that).
Valerie keeps dithering over wether she wants Wes or wants the divorce. It's clear to me (the reader) that he likes her and is just fine with staying married, but for how long? If Valerie keeps pushing the divorce and how much of a mistake they made Wes may just cut his losses and give up on Val.
Throw in Paige the not-so-pleasant roommate and Max the friend-with-benefits that is sexting Val for a booty call and it makes for a very interesting installment.
Very eager for the next book.

Exquisite Betrayal by A.M. Hargrove is a standalone book about a male romance author that hides his identity and falls in love with one of his biggest blogger/promoters all while everyone thinks "R. T. Sinclair" is his twin sister who makes public appearances for him.
A emotionally heavy romance tale filled with comic disaster, painful life struggles, knight-in-shining-armor moments, some stupidassery (to quote Fallon), and some major heartbreak.
Ryland Thomas and Fallon have a rough go of it, with ups and downs and in-betweens. They're both in love, they both make mistakes, and they both are stubborn but this book has a Happily Ever After and is a really awesome read!
Sometimes you want your characters to be as normal and everyday as possible and these two are, well Fallon is anyway, but the things they go through are exceptional and it was a nice escape to read about such heart-achingly beautiful love.
