First in a promising series.
Great in audio, with the magnificent George Guidell.
I had forgotten how very much fun her stories could be. This one was available on my Kindle from my local and Most Excellent library. I loved loved loved it!
So very funny...
So very funny...
Most excellent addition to the canon. And MOST excellent in audiobook form.
Hotdish to Die For A Collection of Culinary Mystery Short Stories (18 Hotdish Recipes Included) by Pat Dennis
From the era of the Walkman. Very funny. VERY short. Buy it, why not?
Love it in paper! Love it in audio! It's clear that Chet's been written by someone owned by a dog.
Re-read this and fall in love with Vimes and the gang all over again.
I didn't have high expectations that this fine dog-narrated book could be performed right for audio. I was pleasantly surprised by Jim Frangione's interpretation of the Mostly-German-Shepherd protagonist, Chet. Recommended.
Favorite series, favorite book, favorite audiobook reader.
The Kennedy family story told very well, and it seems both familiar and brand-new. Recommended in audio, too.
This best of books has, with this recording, become the best of audiobooks, too. Sissy Spacek is perfect.
Great job of reading by the author of this short novella.
Connie Willis is a genius, I say. Some of her books are sad. This is very light. Recommended in paper, too.
Another fine outing for Mma Romotswe. Recommended in audio (it's like a vacation). Lisette Lecat is an excellent voice actor.
A great (second) entry in a wonderful series. This one kind of stars Eleanor of Aquitaine.
I admit to being addicted to Koontz. This audiobook is a standout, since the Main Villain is a literary critic. Go get them, Dean Koontz! Make them miserable in a book! Oh yeah, the story is a good one, too.
Don't miss out on the shorter novels! This one has Grandma Mazur front and center. Lorelei King does a great job reading.
Lost on Planet China: The Strange and True Story of One Man's Attempt to Understand the World's Most Mystifying Nation, or How He Became Comfortable Eating Live Squid by J. Maarten Troost
While I thoroughly enjoyed this in audio, at times I had to skip - er - some hard-to-listen bits. It's THAT brutally honest. Maybe others would rather sample this excellent view of China in a paper version. Audio just can't give you maps, either, and you need them for this story.
When you want to waste time joyfully looking things up, and you can't get online, grab this book! I've been stuck for hours with my nose in THE SYNONYM FINDER!
Due to the limitations of LibraryThing, I couldn't "add" the audiobook here, so let me say: Grover Gardner does a great job bringing this, a favorite of mine, to life. I recommend the dead tree version and now I'm pushing this fun "listen", OK?
A perfect book. It is hard to believe this is her debut novel. I enjoyed the audio version even more, with the masterly readings of fine voice actors like Octavia Spencer.
