"Zhi, high school student and employee at her aunts dumpling shop, wants nothing more than to spend times with her friends... and ensure the fact she's half spider-demon stays a secret. But after accidentally killing and eating a man in front popular girl, Dior, she discovers she may not be the scariest thing in the shadows after all."

YA Urban fantasy, POC mc, with themes of coming of age, friendship and some horror elements, this book is an amazing read. I loved it so much and this is definitely looking like a future re-read. I can't wait to see any future book the author may have in the works.
This Book was amazing, loved the plot line and the LGBTQIA representation.
Can't wait for the next one!!
I quite enjoyed this book. It was a bit too slow paced for my taste and not as action filled as I thought it would be but I still quite liked it.
The characters were fun to read, and the dynamic's between them were also fun. The plot, while a bit slow, was intriguing and enjoyable.
The title definitely caught my interest as did failure equalling death and everything from studying to friendship being purely about survival, after all its "graduate... or die."
Whilst I did get the impression that the book would have more action, it was still a fun and enjoyable read.
I dnf'd this book at 75%. Usually when I get this far into a book I finish it, but unfortunately "Saint Death's Daughter" was a book I just couldn't finish.
Following the story of a necromancer, Miscellaneous 'Lanie' Stones, this book was caught my attention straight away. Although the plot does suit my tastes, the book was too wordy for me, in that the plot got lost in all of the unnecessary, additional words. It reminded me of how I would add extra, unnecessary words in essays to meet the word count.
World building can be done really well, but with the introduction of new days, months, seasons, and gods (plus cultures, religions, etc) it was just to confusing for me to follow. On top of this, the names of the characters did put me off (Miscellaneous, Abandon Hope etc) and so did the mentions of characters irrelevant to the plot.
I was looking forward to this book, but unfortunately it was not for me.
In a city ruled by the Gods of Life and Death, Kasira is the first to hear both. She spends her days as a daughter of Silba, Healing the LowTown population, and her nights as the notorious Sundsvall's assassin.
Her biggest target is Crown Prince Veridian whose whiskey fuelled life us about to end as the bodies pile up and the exiled Queen arrives to broker peace.

With enemies to lovers, assassins, fantasy elements and conspiracies, I was looking to this book and quite enjoyed the first three quarters of this book. Unfortunately, the ending was a bit of a let down for and I wasn't a fan of it.
The ending just felt disjointed, and didn't really fit with the enemies to lovers this book had going. Another thing that made me dislike the ending is how Kasira, an assassin who will fight everything and everyone to protect those she loves, just sort of gave up and joined the sect. Even though it was to protect Veridian, it just didn't feel right.

If there is ever a sequal, my opinion on the ending may change, but as of right now this book is not a favourite. (Though some parts did provide emotional damage).

Whilst still an okay read and not bad for a debut novel, all in all it was a but of a let down and not necessarily something I would reread.

I loved this book so much!! I read it in one sitting
I loved the characters and I love the last chapter so much.
This Book was so fun to read, I absolutely love it and I will definitely read it again
Aaah!!! It was so good! I loved the fact that it was written from multiple perspectives and I loved the diversity. 10/10 would recommend
FIVE F*CKING STARS!!!! I am in love.

I pre ordered this book back in march and having followed Hannah since the beginning, I have to say this book was everything I hoped for and more. Definitely worth the wait.

Also Evie is the love of my life, like oh my God she could kill me and I'd thank her.
I loved this so much!!! I have no words to describe how much I loved this book
I love this book so much!!! I can't wait to read the next one
In a kingdom where only the extraordinary are allowed, Paedyn Gray is completely Ordinary. Posing as a psychic to blend in with the powered elites. After saving the life of one of Ilya's princes, Kai Azer, Paedyn is forced to participate in the Purging Trials, a brutal, even fatal competition showcasing the Elites powers.
Now Paedyn has to survive the trials and opponents, as well as ensuring she is not discovered to be completely ordinary.

I have to admit I was a bit scared to start this book, from what I've seen you love it or hate it, no in-between and I was scared I would hate it
But I absolutely loved it!!! The tension, the secrets, the small touches, gah just everything! It was everything i hoped for and had me giggling and kicking my feet. My sister even drew fanart for it because of how much I gushed about it to her.
The way the characters were written was exceptional in my opinion. The way the author made me love some characters and hate others was well done, and I was angered by the characters actions, not the author which is a sign of a good author, a good writer.
I also love how we get POVs from Paedyn and Kai, it just makes everything that much better. Paedyn fighting feelings for Kai, scared of being found out, and Kai wanting to know her better and not knowing why she dislikes him, their interactions and the tension between them is everything.
And OH MY GOD THAT ENDING. I'm in pain, I need the next book right now, I'm not sure I'll survive without it.
Also show more bless Lauren Roberts for pouring her soul into this masterpiece, and for building a world and characters that I fell in love with show less

It was a good read and a good retelling, I'm just not that into Greek mythology retellings. I'm also a mood reader and wasn't that in the mood for it. On top of that I'm not really a fan of slow paced books.

The plot was slower than I expected and there was less action than I felt was implied in the summary. It was still a good read but it wasn't my cup of tea. I do like a feminist story and while there were feminist aspects, I feel that the author could have focused more on the various female characters rather than the men that Circe had relationships with. Though I did like the hindsight that was incorporated as it shows how Circe was describing past events and how she made herself.
Banished into the Wild after failing her trial due to sabotage, Rasmira's only hope to be accepted back into the village is by killing the opressive God who takes tribute from the villages each year.

Warrior Of The Wild is a young adult fantasy book. There wasn't much fantasy, mostly just the creatures in the wild but it was still enjoyable. It's a quick, fast paced, easy, enjoyable read.

There is a strength heroine who has to prove herself, and a side love interest. The stake are high enough to keep you interested and the ending is satisfying and predictable enough that the anticipation doesn't scare you off.
And I love a good standalone.
I liked this book! It made me less alone in my anxiety and I liked how the concept of feeling alone in anxiety was explored.
An epic YA fantasy about dancing assassins, magic, deadly secrets, friendship, and betrayal that was beautifully created and had me hooked from the first page.

I absolutely loved this book, the wordbuilding, undercurrent of danger, and the writing style were amazing. The dance based magic system was intriguing and unique, and grabbed my attention.

The main character, Aasira, is unrelenting in her desire to prove herself and her devotion to her country, and to prove she won't take after her traitorous mother. I also love the way the other characters are explored, and how we get to know them.

Though, despite being described as a slow burn romantasy, there is only a small hint of romance in the first book. Hopefully there may be more in the sequel.

All in all I absolutely loved this book so much, thank you to the author, Zulekha A. Azalea for creating this masterpiece. I can't wait for the second book!
This is a Booksirens arc review which received for free. thank you so much for having me as part of the reading team!!

When the dead rise, so does pathology...

Jocasta Lewis, a police pathologist gets demoted to the Graveyard Watch, a place no one really wants to work. What she doesn't expect if for the crimes dealth with to be of the supernatural variety. She definitely doesn't expects vampires, werewolves, gnomes, and monsters. Nor does she expect a thirst for justice.

Domingo de Torres wants vengeance. And he’s waited an extremely long time for it. Now it should be simple enough, if it weren’t for vampire murders and immortal weapons getting in the way. Oh, and that ancient collision of sovereignty, power and control.

There are multiple POV's mainly just the two MCs, Jocasta and Domingo, with a few outside povs. I like how Domino's pov includes different time periods, which allows for his backstory to unfold nicely and helps the rest of the plot unfold. I like how scenes aren't repeated in different POVs. It give the novel more depth.

Another thing I enjoy is how Jocasta was introduced to the Supernatural world. It was very done differently to how its usually done, and it felt fresh, new and exciting. I love how she reacts to the new things that are introduced to her, it definitely feels real to me. I love her sense of humour, and she's also very perceptive and intelligent, which I love. It's no downplayed or written off either, the other characters see and show more acknowledge her perceptiveness and intelligence.

As for criticism, it was quite a bit slower paced than I expected a paranormal thriller/mystery to be and I felt some scenes could be a bit more concise, but all in all it was still a good read.

Thank you so much to the author for giving me an eARC of your novel. I am so grateful to have read this book because it is so amazing.

Magicbound is an epic dark fantasy. In Magicbound, Lusa, a rogue mage with dangerous Dark Magics, is forced into an unlikely alliance with a relentless bounty hunter. She’s got to embrace her dark side to become the hero Aetherealm needs, facing deadly enemies, ancient secrets, and powers that threaten to consume her from within. It's fast-paced, full of action and adventure. It is dual pov, mostly from Lusa but with some from the bounty hunter Kaden.

I love the imagery in the writing. The scenes are painted in my mind so beautifully. I also love Lusa's characterisation, her fight with her dark magic, and just everything that happened to do with Lusa's magic. I also enjoy how, despite being the one tasked with the mission, she still has moments where she is more of a child, which she is because she's only 16.

The way the plot unfolded was magical and the climax of the story?? Wow, just wow. It was so good and had me on the edge of my seat tensed in anticipation for what came next. It just kept building up, the tension and anticipation not letting me put it down. And that ending!!!! Omg, I'm still not over it.

This book honestly took me on an emotional roller-coaster, all of the ups and downs, the way everything was explored and unpacked was amazing. I just don't have enough words for how amazing this book is. I'm also still processing show more everything that happened because it was so profound, and it left me speechless. show less

I love the artistry and imagery in the writing, the ways the images and very atmosphere of the scene appears so perfectly in my mind. It is so well written, and everything is so well shown that u felt immersed in the story. The pace is somewhat slow at the start but definitely picks up. I do love the way the plot unfolds, and the multiple povs definitely add to the mystery and intrigue.

The revelations, the plot twists, it's all so magnificent. I love how in depth the characters are portrayed, I also like how the monsters in this book are human, and how the characters are shown to not be what they seem. It makes it feel real and adds that much more emotion to the scenes, as well as deepening the impact on the reader. It is definitely a dark, chilling Gothic mystery with themes that shocked me to the core.

The main character Clara is definitely a fascinating character, and development had me hooked. Her circumstances and the circumstances surrounding her were so intriguing and I just needed to know more.

The ending, the plot twists, the fact that it's a debut novel as well!! My gods, I think that was the best thing I've read this year, I'm not going to be able to get over this. It's going to live with me forever.
Thank you to the author, Andrew Dewey, for reaching out to me to be a arc reader for this novel.

In a world where the discovery of a Tenth Dimension shatters the balance between realms, five ordinary teens gain elemental powers and are thrust into a web of intrigue, betrayal, and political machinations. As they navigate the dangerous world of the Monarchs, they must balance their everyday lives back home with the looming threat of interdimensional conflict. Fast-paced, full of twists, and with rich, complex characters, this story explores friendship, trust, and the corrupting influence of power.

It was a decent read. There were multiple POV's, which I liked, and it was fast-paced, another thing I liked. It is aimed at a middle hrade/YA audience, so it felt a quick, easy read for me. Coming to this right after I finished a macabre book made it so that this book felt too easy, but it was still enjoyable. It is aimed at a slightly younger audience than me, which definitely impacts my opinion.

I do like how the author wrote the characters, meaning that whenever the characters did something I disagreed with, I got upset with the characters, not the author. The ' corrupting influence of power' theme was explored and portrayed amazingly. I could also feel the authenticity in the characters' ages, they definitely acted and were portrayed as their actual age. I'm looking forward to the sequel.
I'm not usually one to read any sort of non fiction books, but I absolutely loved The Greatest Nobodies of History. Humour was perfectly combined with fact in this book.

There are 10 comedic skits based on real historic events, including the black plague, a Greek philosopher, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Great Emu War in Western Australia. I also like how facts pages were included after each comedy bit. It's definitely a great way to make reading about history more interesting.

Never thought I'd ever say that I loved what the ferret had to say, or that I'd read about an Emu army.
A cozy mystery, full of magic and a romance sub-plot. It truly is a cozy mystery, and it was a fun, fast paced read. The romance was very sweet and enjoyable to read as well. I also loved the main character.
Three girls all with ties to the occult, Zara Jones who is desperate to bring back her murdered sister, Jude Wolf, the billionaire's daughter desperate to heal from the curse resulting from a deal with a demon going wrong, and Emer Byrne, an orphaned witch with a tragic past and a deadly power.
All three girls come together when Emer's previous clients start turning up murdered all over London. A Supernatural killer that the girls will have to stop, even if Emer can't give the other girls what they want.

As with all of Krystal Sutherland's books that I have read so far, I absolutely loved it!! The Supernatural, the feminism... chefs kiss. The girls lives are intwined in ways they don't even realise, and the twists and turns are everything.

The writing just flows so easily, making the book such a fun, exciting read. I love how everything comes together in the end, the way all three girls separately come to the same realisation as well as the twists.

While it did take me a few days to get past the first few chapters, once I got about 50 pages in I couldn't put it down. It's a fast paced read with mystery, the Supernatural and feminism, all of my favourite things, and I would definitely recommend this book.
I really loved this. I love the way the plot unfolded and the way the characters developed. I am also definitely a sucker for a good dual time line which The Day Death Stopped definitely had.
