Has a very nice introduction on zombie use in other fields. The International relations part was interesting, referring often to examples from zombie literature.
In the beginning of the book, the author says it is written for someone with a year of calculus. I had some long ago. Luckily the intense math discussions are footnoted and reside in the appendix. It is easy to understand without a math background. Some of the concepts are well illustrated by zombies and some seem a stretch. The book would have been improved by better spacing between the math part of the zombie attacks. I do recommend it as anything that makes math interested should be congratulated.
I came to this anthology knowing nothing of the character. The Foreword and Introduction (maybe the best part of the book) did a good job of introducing the character, the author, the time and genre. The stories themselves were a mixed bag, some fantasy rather than science fiction. Some addressed traditional issues such as the nature of mortality and defining good and evil. Others seemed to have no point at all. The good thing about short stories is even if you don't enjoy one, the time commitment is minimal. After finishing the book, I do feel tempted to go back and read the original Professor Challenger works, so in that way the collection was a success.
