This book is about an African American girl named Jacqueline Woodson. It talks about what it was like to live in both the north and south. She talked about her daily life and her family. For the first part of the book she talks about living in the south in South Carolina. She lived with her grandparents and she loved it! The second part of the book she lives in the north in New York. Every summer the children in her family go to the south to be with their grandparents. She loves her Daddy who she calls her grandpa the best. She talks about trials with her talented siblings, but she finally finds a talent which is writing. She wants to be brave and try and make life better for African Americans.

This is a pretty good book. This girl is the third child and her older siblings are talented and she doesn’t like being showed up by them. I can kind of relate to that because even though I am not the third child i don’t like getting showed up by someone either. My friend told me about this book and I am glad that she did, because it was a good read. She talked about wanting to be brave and I couldn’t help but root for her trying to be part of the Civil Rights movement to make all men created equal. She had a good talent for writing, and I think that is great, I personally am not a great writer, so I like learning about people who are. This was a cool book to read, I haven’t really read any books about this kind of thing before.

Eragon is a boy who is from Carvahal and he is a dragon rider, his dragon is Saphira and in this book he went to Ellesméra which is the land of the elves to train as a dragon rider, since his training hasn’t been so good. He is trained there by a secret older dragon rider who calls himself the Crippled Who is Whole. He becomes a great fighter and rider. He goes to a special elf ceremony and is transformed by dragon magic to be more elf than human. Roran his cousin who is still in Carvahal comes to the Varden to try and get help to rescue Katrina. (his fiancé) When Roran comes the Varden is battling with the king’s army and Eragon is fighting Murtag who tells Eragon that the are brothers. In the end Murtag lets Eragon go and he goes back to Galbatorix.

This book is really interesting. I liked it because it is full of action and adventure. Eragon is a cool person that I wouldn’t have thought would be a hero. He is from a small farm and they didn’t have much money, but he got mad when Garrow died so ya know. He is a very good person who wants to do the right thing, and is humble a good amount of the time. I think it is funny when he starts trying to get Arya to like him, because she is over 100 years old and a princess! This book was really cool to read.

This book is about a boy named Atticus Higginbottom (Tick) who has powers over Chi’karda. In the last book it ended with him throwing all of the dark infinity at her. She now has power over Chi’karda and she is really mad at Tick. She ended up capturing Tick and his family to get him to watch her destroy some of the realities for the Utopian Reality that she wants. She threatens to kill his family if he even tries to use his Chi’karda. He escapes and then he meets the Haunce who tells him that the world would end soon if he and Mistress Jane couldn't work together and fix it. He also needed Sato to gather the Fifth Reality to fight against Mistress Jane’s creatures and save lots of kids. They were able to save the whole world and they only missed 10 kids. (sadly)

I really enjoyed this book this series is very interesting. It has lots of description and it comes from different points of view. Sato has suddenly become a hero and it is really cool, because he was pretty shy and moody at the beginning of the series. Sofia is really a lot nicer than she has seemed, just because she has been kind of haughty because she thinks she is smarter than everyone else. Paul is cool because he is funny and he bugs Sofia a lot, and he helps more than I would have thought he was. My favorite character though is Rutger, he is funny to think of because he is explained as a short fat ball of a person, and he does a lot with computers and technical stuff! This book is about a boy during WWII named Leon Leyson. His family is Jewish. They are put in a ghetto, but they end up being sent to a concentration camp. Before they got taken to the concentration camp, his dad worked for a Nazi named Schindler. Leon’s dad is able to still work for Schindler, and was able to get his whole family on “Schindler’s list”. They were safer than those at the concentration camp and were able to make it through. They almost lost his mom and sister while they were changing factories, but they were reunited.

This was an amazing story. It was very sad, but it was a great read. I learned even more about WWII than I knew before. Most of his story was while he was about my sister’s and my age so it was pretty relatable. I enjoy books that are about only a few people at a time, because it is easier to understand. He was a fighter and I could feel it through its words. He was a very good describer, I liked that.

This book is another book about Atticus Higginbottom. Weird things are happening to him and when he thinks things are going right he gets sent on some kind of mission. He is almost killed multiple times and he thinks that Master George sent him, and that it is getting kind of serious. Each place that he has been sent to on this weird mission that he thinks it is. Something weird happens and the world around him and it kind of mutates of a sort. He ends up getting separated from his friends and taken to a villain named Reginald Chu’s place and Mistress Jane is sent there too, they are ordered to kill each other. Tick is able to get into the room where Chu’s invention called the Dark Infinity and he tried to kill Mistress Jane with it using Chi’karda. Chu was thrown off to the Nonex because he saw his Alterant.

This was a great book filled with action. I really liked the fact that it has characters that are relatable to. I also like that it has a really cool plot. I gave it the rating that it did, because it is really interesting and fun to read. It is really descriptive and it is great. I always get really into the story. This is one of my most favorite serieses, I loved it!

This book is about a boy named Atticus (Tick) Higginbottom. He is sent mysterious letters from M.G. with clues for a special date. He decides to do it and he encounters many different challenges, including Tingle Wraiths a man named Frazier Gunn. Frazier Gunn tries to kill Tick and his dad while they are in Alaska trying to see where the letter came from (he learns who the letters are coming from) he gets saved by a girl who he has been emailing who gets the letters too named Sophia. On the day of the special date he gets winked to the Realitant Headquarters, and meets the other kids who received the letters and become Realitants second class. He goes to the Thirteenth Reality to get Mistress Jane’s Chi’karda wand, and when they are trying to escape the Fangen, Tick winks them all to the headquarters. They find out that the wand doesn’t have a Chi’karda drive and that Tick has some sort of power over Chi’karda.

I gave this book five stars because it was very descriptive. It is very exciting and fun to read. I can relate to the main character because he is my age and that is really cool. It makes you feel like you are actually in the movie. It shows lots of different points of views and I like that too. The book is cool and it is fun to learn more about Chi’karda which is very interesting. He is a very kind character who loves his family and I really like that.

This is about a boy who fell off a roof and lost his memory. He forgot everything including his own name. He had to start his life all over again; he was very confused why everyone was avoiding him. Then he found out that he had been a really bad bully and he even got community service for something that he did. The thing that he did forced a boy to change schools. He decided to do the community service anyway, he met this old man in the nursing home that they had to go to. He ended up doing a video club and did a movie about the man that he met in the nursing home and he was partners with the boy’s sister (the boy that changed schools because of him). They ended up making up and became friends.

I gave this five stars because this was a really interesting book. It really pulled me in! It had lots of different points of view. There would be the boy who changed schools or a member of the video club, or the main character. This book made me form an opinion on what the main character should do. Books about inspiring characters are some f my favorite books. I enjoyed reading this story about a boy who had to make a new life for himself.

This book is about a girl named Eleanor whose parents are immigrants from Germany. She had lived in America all her life. When her dad got a job offer in Berlin, Germany, he decided to take it, even though Hitler had started doing some bad stuff already. When they were on the ship to Germany they heard that Hitler had declared war on Poland, they started to get worried after that. During the time that they were in Germany their mom had two more children, now there was Eleanor, Frank, Tommy, and Elizabeth. They also moved to a new home in Waldenburg. (a village in Germany in the country) They also moved back to Berlin to be with their father who had stayed there for their job. There was barely any food around and they were starving. They all made it through the war and almost all of the families had lost members. They lost lots of friend. They also lived life under the rule of the Russians, which was awful and Russians even camped out in their home! Eleanor, her dad, and Frank were able to go back to America, but her mom and younger siblings weren’t. So they left and her dad saved money to bring her mom and younger siblings to America. They all made it.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It wasn’t just someone writing down what happened, but there was feeling in it. I definitely give it five stars. It was super interesting to read about this amazing girl. I couldn’t put it down! If you enjoy reading stories about WW2 then this is a good one for you. She was close to my show more age, so she was relatable too! There were a few parts where I felt like i could influence the story, because i was so into it! show less

Anne Frank is a girl who live during the time of WW2. She went into hiding in 1942. She has a lot of problems getting along with the people in the “Secret Annex” and expresses her feelings in her diary. She feels like she is completely independent of her parents. She also falls in love with Peter, a boy who lives in the “Secret Annex”, but her father says that she can’t be with him all the time. She misses being able to be in nature and smell fresh air. She cannot wait for the end of the war. She feels like no one understands her.

I thought that this book was fine. She talked about the same thing quite a lot. It was pretty cool to hear what WW2 was like from the eyes of a 13-15 year old. She talked alot about political stuff and I am surprised that she knew all of that. She was interested in family trees and i am too, so it was cool to know that about her. I kind of felt bad about her feeling like no one understood her though. I thought that the book was good though.

When Felix Yz was a little boy, he was too close to his dad’s experiment and was accidentally paired with an alien who is named Zyx. He is going to have a procedure done to separate him and Zyx forever, because if they don’t get separated they will die. He writes about every day counting down to Zero Day, which is the day that he will have the procedure done, and Zyx uses Felix’s hands to say stuff. Felix became friends with a boy at his school named Hector. His mom’s boyfriend showed him online chess and Zyx loved it! He was faster than anyone in the world! Before Zero Day, Felix got scared and he ran away from home, he hopped onto a train and rode for a while before hopping off at a stop. He found a man that took him to a house where really nice people and they let them stay with them. He ended up going back to his family and Zero day arrived! On Zero Day, he was put into a machine that zapped him so that his heart stopped, and then it zapped him again and restarted his heart again. He was separated from Zyx and lived through the process!

I thought this book was ok. It was a little bit inappropriate at times, but it was mostly good. I liked the format that it was made in, where it was his own private blog and that you could hear what Zyx had to say. It was interesting to hear from someone that had been paired with an alien. I gave it four stars, because it was kind of boring at times. I would recommend this book to those that enjoy fiction. The part that the show more alien was kind of weird because it didn’t make much sense at some points. This book was fine overall. show less

In the beginning Jason is at his job at the zoo and he hears music coming from the hippo tank; he leaned in to hear it better and fell into the tank, and the hippo swallowed Jason. When the hippo swallowed Jason he entered into another world, it is called Lyrian. Jason was running away from an angry group of people and came upon the Repository of Learning, where he found a book covered in flesh and it said that he now had to look for a word that would destroy the emperor Maldor. He was told to go to the Blind King and that he would give him answers; when he found the Blind King, he was told that he had to go to an underwater cave that housed a man who knew a syllable that completed the word, the Blind King also gave Jason the first syllable. When Jason was ready to leave he was joined by Rachel, who was from the Beyond too. They had to jump off a cliff into the water and when they jumped they had to swim until they found the cave. They were given another syllable and another place to go and look for another syllable and they had to fight a giant crab to escape the cave; they were almost caught by the crab, but they made it! When they were on their way to Trensicourt when they came upon a displacer, they helped him and then the 3 of them went off to Trensicourt with a helpful companion, they found a man who gave them help to become chancellor in Trensicourt and he had a battle of wits with the current chancellor and was able to win; when he became chancellor he found show more another syllable to the word and he left for another place to look for another syllable on an island in the middle of Whitelake. Rachel ran across the lake to get to the island and found another displacer, but it was only a head and an arm and found another syllable, she also found out that all of the displacers except that one were loyal to Maldor and that they had to get rid of the one that was traveling with them. They were attacked many times after they got rid of the displacer that was with them and was joined by a member of the Amar Kabal they found the last syllable with him when they found a girl who lived in a guarded tree. He accepted his invitation to Harthenham. He found the last syllable and was able to escape. He met with Maldor and he said the arimfexandrapuse word that was supposed to destroy Maldor and it did not work. He was sent to prison and was tortured until the displacer that had traveled with him and Rachel and escaped. He was able to get back to his real world.

I gave this book five stars, because this book has been my favorite book like ever. I really like the kind of book that has mystical creatures and action. This book has some really amazing characters that come to life while you read. I recommend this book if you like fantasy and adventure. I cannot wait to see what happens next in the next book. Jason was really interesting and i could tell that he was really scared at times, and the same goes for Rachel. Jason made a really nice hero. I didn’t want to put it down! show less
