Its a bit sad and hard to read but a good book..It was a lot better than I expected it to be...I had tried to put it down a few times but wouldnt let me....
This book was very well written & made you want to read it. I suggest everyone who knows someone who has been or going through abuse and/or stalking...Read this..so that you will get an idea of what they have to deal with and how hard it actually is to get out of 98% of abusive relationships...This situation is the reason why so many women are scared to get out. So saying "just leave"...isnt that simple...There are many that are just this crazy! If not crazier! But the book is worth the read...regardless!
For those who haven't read the book...There may be a spoiler or two...

When it came out in the 1980's, like most others, I watched it and fell in love with the movie.

It wasn't until last year that I picked up this book and attempted to read it. Again, this was a book I wasn't quite sure how I'd feel about it. It took me a bit to get into it because the beginning of the movie was always hard for me to deal with. But once I got past that part, and got further into the story, I really began to love it. And of course, I loved it more than the movie.

Of course, there were details in the book that wasn't in the movie. And it answered some questions I had...Like, what happened to the man Shug Avery married.

And what type of relationship Shug and Cellie actually had. And Cellies True feelings for her.

And I found out that Cellie & Mister actually became friends in the book. {Which they didn't show in the movie}.

I fell so in love with this book I didn't want it to end. I found myself not really even wanting to watch the movie any more because of it...lol...

But I still do love the movie....

Anyone who loved the movie, and maybe even love Alice Walker books but haven't read this one...It's very much worth reading. Or even if you don't like her books and haven't read this one...Its worth reading. I don't like Alice Walkers other books {I've tried reading them and couldn't get into them} but this one will always be on my top 10 favorite books I believe.
I would not suggest this book for anyone under the age of 18. Some things are a bit graphic. It starts off really slow, gets really good, then has a few more slow moments but its worth reading.
Its a good follow up to the first book. Some reminders and just adding to what he already said before but a tad bit more details.
Another one that started off pretty decent...drug on a little towards the middle then by the time you get close to the end, you want to toss the book across the room because its took drawn out. But thats just me!
I stayed up all night reading this book [with breaks] & finished it...I would give it a 5/5 because it was wonderfully written..And very touching.
It was a pretty good read. Something you would read between books maybe. For me personally, it wasn't really the thriller it said it was. Had a kind of supernatural thing going to me. But it was a "light" read {compared to some of the books I have read..lol} But worth reading. :-)
Bored the mess out of me once I got a little less than half way through it. I had to skip a lot.
It was good. But I enjoyed the one about Tamar more. I am on to Unshaken {Ruth}. I have always loved the story of Ruth. Hopefully this will give me more depth into her story & I will enjoy it just as much if not more so.
At the time that I read Twilight it was a 5/5....When I tried to re-read it...I couldn't get past the first few pages because of Bella's whining...

But...

I did go out today to my local used book store in Charlotte & saw the small, paper back book with Bella & Edward on the cover and bought it...I want the whole collection with the movie themes on it and the regular covers...I will try to buy all four in each set...The Paper back version I got was only .98 so, I couldn't beat that...I'm trying to pick up all of my Faves-At-The-Time books to put on my bookshelf..

I had to skip a bunch of chapters. It was just too much of a boring book in my personal opinion. If there's a book 3..Im not totally sure if I'll read it or not...If I do, it would be out of pure curiosity..
Enjoyed the book! It is how I kind of predicted it {guess because it was predictable that way..lol} Its just a "getting to know the characters" book. Maybe when the next one comes out, it will be a little more action in it. I can't really say a whole lot about it without giving away the whole story. Just click on the title to read the summary & if you decide to read it, hopefully you will enjoy it. :-)
Got kind of slow midway through for me but I finished it. It may be a while before I go further along in the series but I probably will try to finish it.
I had always enjoyed the movie. So, once I started trying to read some of the classics, this one was one I said I would attempt to read. I wasn't quite sure if I would like it but I gave it a try..And I'm glad I did. It had its moments that I got bored..But I think that was mostly I am so used to Fantasy and a little more 'action'...But this book was one that kept your attention. And even though I already knew what happened in the book..I still couldn't put it down because I wanted to still find out what happened.

This is one of those books that if you get upset easily about how people were treated during this time period..Then you better brace yourself if you want to read it...And just...Breathe! lol..

But I loved Scout because she was such a curious little something...And she keeps a smile on your face...

I also loved Atticus because no matter what others in his community said, he was determined to continue defending Tom Robinson. Even though he knew there was a 99.999% chance that he wouldn't win the case...He still did his very best to give Tom Robinson a great defense.

This book was well ahead of its time. And I'm sure very controversial. And it is very much worth trying to read.
For this book alone, I gave a 4...It was good..But a bit drawn out..I think it could have been about 50 pages shorter..But I still really enjoyed this series...For the whole series over all..I'd give about a 4.5/5..:-)
Let me just start off by saying that this is my personal opinion & in no way saying others should or shouldn't feel this way nor am I saying anyone shouldn't start, continue on, or finish this series.

This book for me was not great at all. It took me two weeks to read this book where the other books only took a few days, although Entice did take me a little longer to get into, but once I did, it only took me a few days to finish but in total, it took about a week..

Now, normally, I am not one to struggle through a book, but the only reason I did so was because I do love the series otherwise...And plan on continuing..But I was so frustrated with over done situations, long drawn out "scenes", overly explained situations and sometimes, things being repeated when it shouldn't have been.

Yes, there were many parts that I enjoyed and liked a lot but the situation between Violet & Lincoln was so over done in the book that it just drove me nuts...I had started this book back in May, put it down then started it again close to the end of June. Just for it to take another two weeks to get through...I had to skip a chapter and about 10 pages in the next one..

The Violet/Lincoln situation, okay, I understand, they have to fight some "feelings, especially after what happened in Entice but sheesh, come on! Almost the entire book talking about it? That could have been cut in half! To say I am a little frustrated is an understatement! lol...

Now, was it the worst I've read? NO! It wasn't the show more best but definitely better than many books I have read.

Again, I repeat, I do love this series, but it just so happened that this particular one in the series wasn't her best for me personally...

But I will continue on to Endless and just hope its much better...

I hate that I was so frustrated with it...Because this is one of my favorite series yet!

I love Lincoln, oh boy, do I love Lincoln! And of course Spence! Spence is just amazing & funny! Great heart! I do love the whole team, even Onyx & Dapper! lol...

Still can't wait for Endless in the States! :-)

I loved this book. She is the person that I always thought she was. Respect for herself & others. She never came off as being perfect or "holier than thou". She told things about her life without giving away too much information. I love to see how she always did her best to "bow out" of situations with as much dignity as possible but yet, she let us know that she wasn't always perfect in doing so...My respect for her grew even more...Because she didn't attempt to come off as Ms. Perfect {at least not from what I saw in reading this book.}...I enjoyed the book a lot more than I expected to. That's why I gave it a 5/5...I wasn't sure what to expect when I picked it up..Sometimes I will pick up a book about someone and the writing style is just horrible {there's been at least one or two of those kind of biographies/autobiographies that make you wonder..why did they even try? lol}..But this one, for me personally, made it hard for me to put down...And I love books like that...You don;t want to sleep, you barely want to move until you are done with it! But, we all have things to do and/or kids to raise....lol
A REMINDER TO ALL: THIS REVIEW IS MY PERSONAL OPINION...IF YOU AGREE WITH IT..WONDERFUL...IF NOT...WELL, I GUESS WE ALL HAVE DIFFERENT OPINIONS ON THINGS...THATS WHAT MAKES THIS WORLD SO WONDERFUL...WE ALL DONT HAVE TO THINK OR BELIEVE THE SAME...:0)

I enjoyed the book...I dont know what it is with some books..I will get bored right in the middle of it...Even if it's not really that boring...This one had some spots that made me skip a paragraph or two but in general, it was really good. I wouldn't call myself a FAN of Common, but I do like him and familiar with some of his music...I dont remember if Ive watched any of his movies but him as a person, Ive always had some respect for..And what I loved about this book is that he was honest about who he was and is...He lets people know that just because he has positive music, doesnt mean he's perfect and that every aspect of his life was always positive..But he does his best to walk a positive life as much as humanly possible...Like so many of us do...We fall, we mess up, but we get up, dust off and keep trying to do our best in the moment.

I liked how he started each chapter with a letter to someone...That to me, was a nice idea...But I think my favorite parts of the book were when his mother put in her side of some situations...This book opened my eyes on Common & one other person in the book that I also enjoy watching and listening to....But it doesnt change my opinion of them..Good bad or other...Common has given me new show more respect for him and his growth over his life...And just KNOWING that there are people out here that have gone through some things I've dealt with and gotten through it..You know people deal with things but sometimes, you can feel so alone until you talk to someone, hear a conversation, or read a book and really realize, ITS NOT JUST YOU! Thats PART of the reason I like reading Memoirs/Biographies, etc...It gives me a little insight on the people I like {and even some that I dont even know} and just helps me get through my own issues..And usually, it just gives me a whole new look on that person! :0) {okay, I know, I turned into about me! sorry..lol} show less
Well, finally finished it this morning.

It wasn't as good as Embraced was in my personal opinion. But it was still really good. Once I got into it, I inhaled it like I did Embrace.

But, one thing I can say is that it had me laughing at many points throughout the book.

I find myself still routing for Lincoln and Violet's relationship, even with all the risks. I'm finding myself hoping that they find a loop hole of some sort that Rudy & Nyla didn't...

My dislike for Phoenix grew even more than I expected it to..And I didn't think that was even possible...

I've seen a few say they didn't like the way Lincoln was acting throughout the book, and although I felt the same way at some points...I do have to say that they both were at fault for how he was acting because neither had the maturity level or common sense to open their mouths and talk....to each other! I hated the secrets they kept, secrets that I personally didn't understand why they kept them.

This book drove me nuts & many times, I wanted to slap some of the characters...

There were some newbies in the book that I fell in love with...Others, not so much....

The only reason this book didn't get a 3 was because it did keep me laughing, when the action started, it was really good..

I kind of hope that they make a movie out of this. Even though the descriptions were there, it was still kind of hard for me to picture a few of them vividly...

But, I can't wait to get...

To see what happens...And I Really love this cover...

ATTENTION: There may be a little spoiler for those who have not yet read the book, so read on at your own risk. :-)

Sigh....

Well, I don't know exactly what to say about this book.

I guess I can start off with the negative..Which I think there will be more negative than positive.

Negative:

A large majority of the book was a total bore...The definition of bore you might ask? Or even if you do know, I am going to give it anyway because if fits perfectly with how I felt about this book most of the time.

Bore:
1. make somebody uninterested: to make somebody lose interest and so feel tired and annoyed
2. something that bores: somebody or something regarded as wholly uninteresting or tiresome

Pay close attention to TIRED, ANNOYED, & TIRESOME..

I understand about giving the history...but come on! Give me some action.

This book reminded me a lot of Fallen & Twilight. With some of the story line...Except that Bianca was the vampire. But they had the same unnatural clingy'ness that Edward and Bella had. And some parts of the book I would read would make me think the author had taken some ideas from Fallen.

Bianca felt like she couldn't live or move on with life without Lucas. And Lucas had that same reaction towards her.

Now, that we are on Lucas, he is one of those that makes you want to hate him..Then he does something that you change your mind..Until he does something stupid and then you like him all over again. So throughout the story..You're very much leery of him.

And I HATED show more strongly disliked Bianca's parents. Especially Dad. Dad was an ass to say the least. And I guess there may be a reason in behind him being an asshole..But they never gave reason...And they sheltered her way too much....If she is to grow into the vampire you want her to be, then there comes a time that sheltering needs to stop..Especially after she bites someone for the first time.

Now, I guess I can go on to the few positive that I have about this story....

The only reason I continued on with the story was because I wanted to know what happened between these two and there were some questions I had that needed answering.

The two people I actually liked in the story was Balthazar & Raquel. Balthazar was real with her without being overly mean. Raquel, although she seemed kind of emo'ish & always down on herself, she seemed like a sweet young woman who just wanted acceptance and wasn't getting it from her parents. I did notice that Claudia Gray wrote a book based on Balthazar...

[bc:Balthazar|10120780|Balthazar|Claudia Gray|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1329088018s/10120780.jpg|15018468]

Will I read it? I don't know. If I can get through at least book 2 in the Evernight series..I MIGHT...It all depends on how I feel about book 2 and if I can get through the others. I will make that decision later I guess.

But my FAVORITE was is VIC...He was happy, funny, always smiling & just always tried to see the positive in everything. He was Lucas's roommate and best friend.

Now, what roll these 3 will play in the next book I don't know. I'm sure they're in the story for a reason, and the ones you love the most, sometimes are the ones who end up causing the most damage sometimes.

Is that to say I will go on to the next book? I probably will...I want to know what happens next. I won't say I will finish the whole series but I will take it according to how I feel about the next book I read. If I like Stargazer...

[bc:Stargazer|3054684|Stargazer (Evernight, #2)|Claudia Gray|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1306376986s/3054684.jpg|3085581]....

Then I will go on to....

[bc:Hourglass|6421588|Hourglass (Evernight, #3)|Claudia Gray|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1306377308s/6421588.jpg|6610807]

And so on.

I just hope book two is better than this one. And I am in hopes that it has more action. Although I don't mind the romance in books, but thats not why I get them..If I wanted just romance and not the action that Fantasy gives, I would read strictly romance! IJS....

Skipped a lot. Got to the end. Ended how I expected..how it got there, not all the way sure..but I just had to get to the end..Thats why I dont like 3 in one books. I like mine individual!

SECRET VAMPIRE" 5/5

DAUGHTERS OF DARKNESS: 4.5/5

SPELLBOUND: 3.5/5
Much of the stuff in this book I already knew...And much of it seemed to be repeating what was already said earlier in the book...But, for those who don't know much about Bishop Jakes and all he had to do to get where he is today...And how he handles being an entrepreneur, pastor, husband, dad, etc..Then this is a good book to read...He's talked about his life quite a bit over the years I have been watching him..So I kind of already knew most of what I was reading by hearing it from him while listening to his sermons or reading articles that he did interviews for...Once I got to chapter 10...I skipped a lot of it because like I said, a lot of it, I already had SOME knowledge of...So, I just scanned the last few chapters...
I completely and totally enjoyed this book. I think the only times I put this book down was because I knew I had other things to do, had to take care of my little men, or I was really tired. It was a hard book to put down and when I was doing other things, this book was always creeping up telling me to read it..lol..Whether you like Ice T or not, it's very much worth reading...Especially the men...of every age...But it seems to be more directed at teens and young adults.
For me personally, this book is AMAZING! The cover in itself got my attention...Then when I read the cover, I saw how unique and different this story was going to be. It took me a little bit to figure out exactly what was going on in it until she started going back and explaining what got Nikki Beckett where she was in her life.

I wasn't sure whether I would actually enjoy this book as much..I just knew it was something totally different than what I was normally reading {angels & vampires...mostly angels}...But once I began to grasp the concept of this story..It began to suck me in to the point I couldn't put it down. And it only took me a couple days to read it {hey, if I didn't have a home to run & kids (2) to tend to, I may have finished it in a day and a half or less...lol...But for me personally, the book was AMAZING!{Yes, I had to say it twice...:o)}...I am so ready for book two to come out...OH THE WAITING!!! :o)
It was good but it was kind of slow in a lot of areas. I think the only reason I finished it is because I LOVE Batista. Normally, if books are this slow and this much of a struggle, I wouldn't finish it...Its rare that I do unless there is something just drawing me in & keeps me reading...Thats how this book was for me...plus, like I said, I L O V E Batista & WWE..

I so love this cover! I can't wait for it to come out...ugh..The wait!!! Sigh.... I have a few series that Im into that I am having to wait for the next book to come out....And this is one of them...

I am trying to wait patiently..But its so hard! I am so impatient sometimes. :-(

Finished the book at around 5 A.M. (EST-USA time) or so this morning....

And of course, I am still #TeamJack all the way! :-D

It's not something I would jump, scream and holler about..But I would recommend continuing on in the series with this book if you read and enjoyed Everneath....It is very much worth reading and getting through.

I am ready for the next book in the series...Evertrue...which isnt scheduled to come out until 2014...Such a long wait! Sheesh!

But hopefully, I will have some type of E-Reader (Kindle Fire-hopefully) and I will be able to read Neverfall soon as well.

Cover: 5/5

Book Review: 3/5

Well, I will start off with the positive....

I adore Cassia, Xander and Ky. They are all amazing characters. The love they all have for each other. The friendship between Cassia and Xander are amazing. So for me, who ever she ends up with, would be perfectly fine with me.

The negative?....

The story for me was just too drawn out and went on for too long. I understand the book was just getting everyone used to the characters, the history of the Provinces and how they ended up where they were. But it was just a bore for me. I had to skip about 60 pages or so. And from time to time, I would read a sentence or two of a paragraph because it was just way to much..and too repetitive.

Will I go on to the next book?

I probably will...In time. But right now, I just need to get over this one. If I try to go on to the next one too quickly, I will just get upset. lol...but I wouldn't be surprised if this series wasn't turned into a movie. It is good enough for one. Even though I personally didn't find it amazing, I can see a movie coming out of it and the characters being loved even by people who didn't read the books. Hopefully they will do these books justice unlike some books-to-movies that weren't done justice. But I guess we will see. :-)
It was pretty good. Encouraging. She lets you into her life just a little bit. But I think this book is more just letting those who read it know that, no, she isnt perfect, she has struggles like everyone else. And she talked about a few of the rumors that were out there about her...i.e....whether she actually had a rib removed or not [lets just say, dont believe everything you hear..from anyone..media, friends, associates, etc}
