I picked up Shark Wars, the first book of a great series for my six year old who loves sharks. We read the book together and then purchased the other five books in the series. This book of course introduces the main characters in the series. We get to know Gray, our hero, and the history of the Big Blue and the shark kind who live there. Grey is faced with some big challenges, like being kicked out of his home territory and out into the world. There is a battle and many plot twists. Shark Wars leaves you waiting for the next book Battle of Riptide.
I received this book shortly before Halloween. It was a plesant, yet horror-fulled surprise. The anthology is filled with scary short stories from many prominent authors. The book was made as a benefit for Rick Hautala's family and is a testament to his life and influence in his genera.
Coldest Girl in Coldtown was the best vampire book I have read in a long time! Holly Black creates a realistic scenario for vampires in mainstream america and characters with depth. The story line keeps readers engaged and guessing. This book took me back ten years to my vampire addiction days, I connected with my old self and my vampire the masquerade character. If you like vampires that do not sparkle, read this book!
Dirty Love is a collection of somewhat depressing, yet honest stories of love gone astray. They are well written, frank and believable, many adults will likely relate to at least one. Dirty Love is a great alternative to a happy-ending love story. If you need to know that not everything is a radio friendly love song, pick up Dirty Love for your next weekend read.
Pacific Sun and Other Stories is a collection of non sugar coated, real life, real world experiences. Markos writes from the perspective of characters involved in not so happy endings. If you are looking for a quick read and a collection of stories which may leave a bitter taste in your mouth, I recommend this book. It is not a feel good beach novel as the title and cover may suggest.
