Review: This is an amazing read! Everyone knows about the Holocaust, but this book really makes you think about the poor conditions the Jewish lived and died in. In this book the weak are killed off, and the strong are worked to death in concentration camps. Eliezer is a Jewish teen who is studying the first five books of the old testament one day, and the next he is on a train full of mildly psychotic people going to a concentration camp. I loved reading this book, I would give it a 5 out of 5.
Summary: Eliezer's teacher Moshe the Beadle is deported. In a few months, Moshe returns, telling a horrifying story, the Gestapo took charge of his train, led everyone into the woods, and killed them off. Nobody believes Moshe. In the spring of 1944 the Nazis occupy Eliezer's town, Sighet, later they are crammed into cattle cars. What ensues is a nightmarish endurance of people going positively insane. The passengers arrive at Auchwitz, Eliezer and his father pass the evaluation test, Eliezer never saw his mother or sister again. Eliezer endures several months in the camp. The Russians eventually advance to the camp, so the prisoners are moved to Gleiwitz. They get there by running 50 miles through a snowstorm, many die of harsh weather, and others are injured. On April 11, 1945 the American army liberates the camp, and Eliezer is free.

Review: Lord of the Flies is a book about a plane full of school children that crashland on an island. This book reminds me of many survival books like Hatchet. This made for a very interesting read, as I did not know what would happen next. The boys quickly elect a leader, but eventually turn on him.
Summary: A plane full of boys crashland a plane on an island. The boys elect a leader named Ralph. Ralph declares a hunt leader named Jack. The boys light a signal fire using a boy named Piggy's glasses. The huntsmen eventually turn against Ralph, who then hides in the forest. The huntsmen smoke him out of the forest by setting it ablaze. Whilst on the beach Ralph meets a naval officer, whose ship spotted the burning forest and came to the rescue. The whole group sobs at how savage they were.

Review: The Witch of Blackbird Pond is a story about Kit and her experience in the Colonies. Kit's Grandfather has lost a fortune, and she is being courted by a 50 year old man in Barbados. She moves to the Colonies to live with her other family. This book is quite old, but it still manages to be quite interesting. This is a book that I would recommend to anyone seeking a good long read.
Summary: Kit moves to the Colonies to avoid being courted by a 50 year old man. On the boat to the Colonies she meets Nathaniel Eaton, a sailor. Once in the Colonies she goes to see her family; Aunt Rachel, Uncle Matthew, Cousin Mercy, and Cousin Judith. She discovers that her aunt is not as pretty as she thought. She also discovers that life in the Colonies is not easy. She eventually marries Nat, and rides with him in his new ship, The Witch.

Opinion: In my opinion this is a great followup to the first book in the Harry Potter series. The three main characters keep their personality and view on things. The book is just as well written as the first one. This book delves deeper into the mysteries behind Hogwarts, School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I hope to be able to review all the books in this series. I would recommend this book to anyone from age 9-99. I would give this book a 3.5 out of 5. show less

Summary: Harry Potter's parents were killed in Godric's Hollow by Lord Voldemort. Voldemort then tried to kill Harry but did not succeed. Albus Dumbledore took Harry in a basket with a note explaining what had happened and what would happen to the Dursleys, Harry's uncle's family. The Dursleys kept the secret of Harry's wizardry from him for eleven years. The Dursleys then started getting letters through every possible crack in the house. Due to this strange phenomenon the Dursleys decided to move to a secluded ocean shack that Harry's uncle had rented. There, Hagrid, the half giant that had assisted Dumbledore in giving Harry to the Dursleys, burst through the door and handed Harry a letter of acception into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Hagrid then takes Harry to shop for school supplies in Diagon Ally, the wizard main street. Harry then takes a train from platform nine and three quarters to Hogwarts, where he meets Ron and Hermione. These three later fight a troll in the Hogwarts girls bathroom, and discover the location of the sorcerer's stone in the forbidden corridor of Hogwarts.
Opinion: I believe this children's classic is not only well written but has an amazing plot, and lots of action and discovery. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a quick good read with lots of body. I have personally read the whole Harry Potter series and think this book was an amazing opening to an even more amazing series. I will definitely recommend this series show more to anyone who hasn't read it. In the future I hope a book will come out about Harry's children's experience at Hogwarts. show less

Summary: Edmond Dantes has his life laid out on a silver platter. He is going to marry the woman he loves, he was just promoted to being a captain of his own ship, and is well liked by nearly all that know him. Three men are, in fact, so jealous of his "perfect" life that they draft a letter convicting Dantes of treason. On the day of his wedding with the woman he loves, Mercedes, he is whisked away and thrown into a high security political prison. Villefort, the man that holds Dantes trial discovers that Dantes is carrying a letter to Villefort's father from Napoleon Bonepart. So Villefort sentences Dantes to life in prison. After Dantes escapes by hiding in an Italian priest's shroud, which is thrown into the ocean. Dantes cuts himself free and proceeds to seek the treasure that said priest told him was located on the Island of Monte Cristo. After finding this treasure, Dantes takes on the alias of the Count of Monte Cristo. He then seeks revenge on those who falsely accused him of treason, leaving them penniless or dead.
Opinion: In my opinion this book is exceptionally well written and surprisingly truthful as to what had actually happened to a man who also hailed from Marseilles. Even though this book was written so long ago it is still a classic and will remain a classic in my mind forever. The setting of this book ranges from Marseilles to Rome and includes the mythical Island of Monte Cristo. I would like to read more of this writer's works but sadly find myself a show more little short on time. The characters are very well described. I would recommend this book to anyone with a lexile higher than 1000, who also likes historical fiction. I would give this book a 5 out of 5. show less

This book is amazing. I believe it may be similar to the Lord of the Rings, but as I have not the Lord of the Rings I can't compare them accurately. This book is about a young woman whose name is Maerad, the central male character is a bard named Cadvan. Cadvan guides Maerad through the process of becoming a bard. Maerad was originally a slave in Gilman's Cot. This book is vividly written but is a bit of a thick read. The story line is very good and I believe it is deserving of a young adult's book award.
This book has an amazing story line. This book has a few climaxes and a great many characters to remember whilst reading. I do not regret reading this book and hope that I won't regret any book I ever read. The description of Wit's End keeps you wondering about what catastrophe will happen next and from what angle, direction or elevation. Many characters in this book are unimportant in regards of the main story line. I would rate this book a 7 out of 10. I don't think I'll read any more Stephanie Tolan books though.
This is an especially well written and worded book by Sharon Creech. In this book three main events happen, Salamanca Tree Hiddle moves from Kansas to Ohio, she meets a girl named Phoebe at her middle school, and she goes on a trip with her grandparents to find her mother's grave before her mother's birthday. This is a story that I would recommend to anyone from 5th grade and up. Out of 5 I would rate this book a 4.8. This is a well written complex story that deserves recognition and awards. In the future I hope that all the books I read are this choc-full of excellent storyline. I would also recommend this book to any adult.
This is another well written book by Michelle Paver. After reading Wolf Brother, the first book in this series, I decided to keep following this series. I discovered that these books not only branch into the forest clans of this imaginary world, but into the sea clans too. I would by no means ever consider these books as childish as I thought them to be again. This newly declared statement of mine came to me early in the book, when a man started eating his own scabs wilst writhing with sickness. I consider this book to be some thing I will introduce to my children, along with the Harry Potter and Hunger Games series. This is an all around great book.
I believe this book is a good read for whoever has read books such as the Harry Potter series or Gary Paulsen survival books. When I first started reading this book I found it to be a bit too childish for me to read, but I kept reading anyway and have already finished reading the first and second books. Now to get back to the topic of the actual word choice and sentence structure of the book. This book has amazing descriptions of the forest that make you feel like you are there with the characters. All in all the story line kept me reading to the end of the bindings and hope the rest of the series will too. I would hope that anyone who comes across this magnificent read is advised to read slowly to let the full effect of the words sink in. I would rate this book a 4 out of 5.
Catching Fire is the second book in the Hunger Games series. This series is well written and has many fans. Supposively, in the future this series will be made into a movie. This book is an in depth distopian fiction and will assuredly catch your eye at the library or book store. This book is excellently worded and has an in depth storyline. The main character is Katniss Everdeen a girl who fends for her family's well being and hunts with a partner in the woods.
This book is as well written as any of Suzzane Collins's other books. In my mind this series is equal to that of Harry Potter books and other series as such. When asked to fight for the resistance of the last thought lost District 13, Katniss feels betrayed. I hope this book is shared as much as any other. This book is also in depth and follows the storyline of the Hunger Games very well. This series is still my favorite to date.
This book is set in the 1940's and is set in the concentration camp Auchwitz. This book is very sad and will assuredly spur mothers to watch what their children do outside. Bruno is curios why everyone on the other side of the fence are wearing,"striped pajamas." Bruno decides to go outside and do some exploring, but little does he know that his friend Shmeul's father has gone missing in the rain. Bruno decides to go under the fence with some striped pajamas and see where Shmeul's father is. This book is well written and gives you that," don't go in," feeling.
This book is an immersive first book to a wonderful distopian fiction series. This book is set in a post apocalyptic event and involves romance, combat and the Hunger Games an event that sends the people of District 12 indoors to pre-mourn the loss of their children and friends. This book is well written and will become the favorite book of many people. Katniss Everdeen, the main character, competes in these games and fends for her family. She goes through many emotional happenings during this book and many further throughout the series. This in depth book is very readable and the words basically flow like piano music.
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a deep space comedy publicized in 1986. This book features three main characters, Ford Prefect, Zaphod Beeblebrox, and Arthur Dent. These three men venture throughout space in the Heart of Gold, an improbability drive operated ship. Across the four parts of this book these characters discover the answer to life, the universe, and everything; 42. They discover God's last message to his creation and rent scooters from green people with wings. Throughout this series there are various romances, rediscoveries and floating parties with immense amounts of drunks. This series is a story that will not be forgotten for a very long time and will continue to be passed down through parent to child as a favorite book.
