"Mayada" is a fascinating story of a lady named Mayada that Jean Sasson met and befriended while she was in Iraq. Mayada's story is one that will keep you riveted and inspired. While working as a news reporter she was imprisoned in Iraq. The way Mayada and all of the shadow women (the others in her cell) were treated was both abominable and shocking.

I would also highly recommend the author's latest book "Yasmeena's Choice". This reminded me of "Mayada" very much because the story was also harrowing and fascinating. Jean Sasson has such a gift when it comes to writing true stories because she really goes out of her way to tell the full story and to educate the reader.
This is the first book that the author has written, which includes firsthand stories about the many Kuwait victims of the Gulf War in 1990. The author Jean Sasson personally traveled to Kuwait to speak to the victims directly. The author has a new book titled "Yasmeena's Choice" which I enjoyed even more than "The Rape of Kuwait" because it is so gripping and fascinating. The book is about a woman that was captured during the Gulf War by Iraqi soldiers and held captive in a prison. If you enjoyed "The Rape of Kuwait" I would highly recommend "Yasmeena's Choice" too.
"Princess" is the true biography of Princess Sultana, a Saudi Princess. Her story is shocking and very profound yet it is also universal because everyone that reads this book can relate to her. The author, Jean Sasson has written a new book titled "Yasmeena's Choice" which is also a true story. Although it is not about a princess, the book is just as gripping and I would highly recommend it.
"Yasmeena's Choice" is one of Jean Sasson's very best books. I enjoyed it because it was so inspirational and it included such a unique story. I can tell that the author, Jean Sasson went to great lengths to write to wonderful book. I highly recommend it to anyone that is studying the Middle East as well as to anyone that has enjoys any of the other books that Jean Sasson has written.
