Jen Turano never disappoints. Rollicking tale, twisting as much as a cat playing with yarn. If you read in public, you'll find yourself in a predicament as to how to explain why you're laughing out loud and snorting - and so often. It's also a lovely romance and is suspenseful and quite touching, as well as informative about things you've never thought of but is fascinating all the same. Another treasure of a book for yourself or for someone you care about.

Beautifully, realistically written. A frightened but determined Sasha went looking for her uncle. Her mother, an actress, had left her to marry, abandoning her. Sasha had also worked and traveled with the theater, but she decided to take the chance to find her family. Jim worked for her uncle and was one of the most honest, caring men she'd ever met; someone she could trust without being concerned it was only because of her beauty. The story is interesting, taking place on Creek Indian lands being developed for oil fields. Beautiful, faith filled romance with page turning depth. I highly recommend this book.

Part of a series but good as a stand-alone. Two intelligent, independent people come together in England over a love of history. A professor who is a family friend and an American who had recently been united with her Grandmother. Intrigue of family and society, with backstabbing people on both sides. In a search around the grounds, she finds a rare book that may uncover an ancient mystery. He needs it to advance his career. They have to work through a lot of issues, and it's interesting to be a bystander and watch, rooting for them both. Good read!

What an easy read. The pages just fly by as you spend time getting to know Ruth Ann. She's a lovely girl, inside and out. Ruth Ann doesn't have that "perfect" figure, and it seems she isn't society's idea of a perfect lady. Many people judge others by the way that they look and can be mean when someone doesn't come up to whatever standards they've set. But most times, when they do, it's based on something in themselves that is lacking. Adversity builds strength in those who are abused. Verbal abuse is every bit as bad as physical abuse. Ruth Ann is from a wealthy family and gives herself to others. Ben finds her beautiful and he's a great example of a good man, just a little flawed, but he learns. This takes place in 1873 and is after the war. It's realistically written, with a historical view of a Virginian small town of that time. Ruth Ann has a soft spot for educating black people, a view not shared by all at that time - others in her society and in the community don't like it. Thankfully Ruth Ann is a woman of conviction. She and Ben learn their true worth in God's eyes, making a way for their relationship with each other. Excellent read!

1839 North Georgia in a gold rush town. Addie and Wade had both been through a great deal of loss, and both had become very independent. A nice, involved story where you have to love the characters and feel all their problems, making you frustrated for them both to get a win. Excitement and danger build, with a great conclusion.

A rollicking good book! Grace is running from her adopted father and his cruelty, hiding in Texas, working as a teacher. She gets twisted up with five unruly boys and their father as she has to run for her life. (A truly wild bunch, they're living in a cave.) Entertaining story unfolds, leaving you rolling in laughter as well as sadness and outrage, constantly rooting for them to work it out. Excellent read.

There are maniacs who are injecting a substance into and turning men into super monsters, and these crews all want to catch and stop them. The men are official undercover spies; the women have been secretly doing so, and the men are resistant to letting the women work with them. It's a riveting series; I highly recommend that you get all three because you won't want to skip a beat between volumes. There's even a bit of romance and humor in the mix. You can't go wrong choosing this book.

Kentucky in the 1700s. I couldn't help but love Dawn right away as she pointed out the plants and animals along their journeys. That she was Jacob's young love and they'd been separated, then he rescued her from abusive stepparents on the journey west was amazing. The way the story unfolded kept the pages turning quickly. The Siege of Bryan’s Station and the Battle of Blue Licks were real battles, and they were in the middle of them. I really loved this book and highly recommend it. Very well written!

Preciously delightful western with danger. I was fully engaged right in the beginning of the story, with emotions all over the place - anger, sad, laughter. Hold your breath part of the time, snort with laughter a lot of the time. You have to feel involved with each one of them. Sophie's husband's twin shows up some time after he was killed, a twin that she never knew about. She has four little girls, and they all know how to take care of themselves, the ranch and each other - have been for some time. Clay's never been around girls before, so he's mystified - and doesn't think females are capable of "men's work". Someone's looking to kill them, so the danger and struggle are real, the solutions interesting and smart. Easy to read page turner. Loved it!!

I need 10 stars for this. Excellently good book. A Lenni Lenape Indian who is a Quaker and an illegitimate girl are part of a camp following in Pennsylvania during the Revolutionary war. Each are not fully accepted by the community yet earn their way through hard work and their nature. Interesting and realistic days in their lives as the war progresses and they have to deal with so much to both survive and fit in, even their own personal prejudices. Their journey of faith also grows as the story progresses. Enriching journey to immerse yourself and travel along with. Fulfilling read.

1890 South Dakota Rose Rushing Water returns to her Lakota after being raised in the Boston area and going to college to be a nurse. You easily like the characters and it's easy to see things through their eyes. There is so much conflict though between the old ways and the new white man's way of doing things. Even between her two brothers, each on a side. Hostility, distrust, resentment, fear, disease. Nathaniel is drawn to her and is also wrapped up in the conflicts. An emotional and weighty read, bringing a part of history to light and some sense of understanding such a great loss. Talented author, deeply researched.

Incredible depth into history from Prohibition through WW2. Fascinating story of a woman genius who can decipher coded from messages all over the world yet is not accepted because she's not male. Newspaper jumble puzzles are nothing compared to this. She meets and eventually marries another brilliant codebreaker and ends up heading up her own very successful team, yet the credit is taken by others. These people were invaluable to winning the war. Many lives and a lot of money were saved because of them. A very fully dimensional Grace painfully transitions through different roles at work and in her personal life. Formidable foes, threats and danger.

Set in 1886 Colorado, this story about Willow and Silas is beautifully told. Easily become immersed in the story and love these characters. He's a new pastor to the area and pursued as an eligible bachelor but Willow is the one who snags his heart. She's an actress, so not so desirable to his congregation. He's trying to please his father as well, and she has a domineering and controlling sister. Their journey together is both a stressful and enjoyable page turner.

He encounters Anna, the feisty daughter of the local miller, and becomes quite fond of her. She's part Cherokee and hates white men, especially soldiers. She learns to trust Gage, and they join together hiding treasure and secrets. Beautiful love story, interesting and informative, delving into history, characters to become immersed in. Excellent read. Gage makes me think of crushable Clint Walker in the old Western series Cheyenne.

Romance and mystery, smooth as fine chocolate. I'd truly love to see this acted out! Juliet is a lady who has fallen on times bad enough to make her poach game from the manor bordering her aunt's cottage. Luckily, she has the skills. When she's caught, those skills make Henry decide to employ her to help find who is stalking the manor, and his sister. Since Juliet has had a step-down in society, it's eventually a welcome break for her and a chance to provide for her aunt, but there is real danger here. Thoroughly engaging mystery with characters you have to love and feel involved with. This is romance of the best, truest kind and it's so pleasant to get caught up in, with a great ending.

I felt so full of love for these people. Rejected orphans sent away on a train, because they had disabilities. Eldora was one of them, older now and tasked with getting them to the next orphanage. Sam's Aunt tasked him with watching over them. Quite the trip, with serious struggles along the way for these who felt so unwanted. Beautiful story. You have to have your own opinions as to how it should go, becoming fully involved to the precious end.

I really enjoyed every bit of this story. Thoroughly. Set after the war, five U. S. Marshalls are escorting a prisoner across Colorado Rocky Mountain territory. They agree to escort two of the Bridger kids as well. Not all goes as planned, and they end up traveling very rough territory, scaling mountains nearly impossible to cross where they were. Their interactions, survival skills and tracking skills kept me riveted through the danger. Can't wait to read the next book in this new series. Wonderful characters, ithe way it's written seems like you're there.

Well I wasn't ready for this to end yet. Cora and Ben keep you glued to the story right to the end. Always hard to put it down, you want to know what will happen next. Real life struggles on her family's ranch, where Ben goes after the war and his recovery as a promise to her brother. Many problems develop between them, and lots to get in their way. Lovely ending with a promise for more hiding there - I'm hoping.

As told, this is a 1870s guidebook for Thun Switzerland and the areas nearby as well as a beautiful love story. Claire is obsessed with bringing tourism to Thun and is frustrated that Lucas, an engineer for building the railroad beyond Thun might be taking the focus, and funding, away from her dream. Interesting story unfolds with these areas beautifully described and brought to life and the charming characters too. Wonderful story.

Each side had their own strong point of view, so it was difficult to live there, especially as the war escalated. Libby is close to family and friends whom she doesn't realize are spies for the Patriots. Libby and Isaac are walking different paths while yet together, each with their own pain. It seems impossible for them to get together as events happen around them. Excellent portrayal of the hurts along divided lines and God's ability to bring them together and bring purpose to pain.

Taking place during the early Salem Witch trials, this is a very tense story. The characters realistically bring to life what it would have been like to have lived in that area at that time. To live under the pressure of constant accusations going on around you - people whom you know are completely innocent. And knowing the power it gives to those in the village who crave it. There is also the fact that both Quaker and Puritan families lived in this village, and they were wary of each other, yet many tried to get along and share their trades. A blossoming love story carries on the difficulties between them all when a Quaker girl and Puritan boy fall in love and when a midwife to all residents is caught up in her own dilemmas. Plenty to keep you engaged to the very end, and wanting a next one to see how it all pans out for everyone.

I really enjoyed getting to know and spend time with Hetta, Garland and Fritz as well as their family and friends. Richly told, loosely based on real history, Hetta and Fritz come to America from Germany in 1930s. Fritz as a prisoner of war, Hetta 14 years later looking for her fiancé who had disappeared, after she saw an article with her fiancé's name on a gravestone. Garland is a police officer who got tangled up in it all. Intricate story of love and hope that takes paths that you may not expect. Very intriguing, keeps you turning the pages to see what happened, with history of the wars in Germany mixed in. Excellent choice to spend your time with and add to your library.
