Hunger is the second book to the book Gone Novels. It was about the kids not having a lot of food for everybody to eat. They make money out of gold. Then people shape the coins into bullets. The kids that have the money cherish it with their lives. The money is used for everything in the FAYZ. There is another battle against the good and the bad guys. Not that many people died this time.
This book was awesome! I gave this book five stars. It was a very good book. It was very very descriptive. I loved it. I can't wait till the third book. This author uses very good ways to describe scenes so that you can see them in your head. Again, I recommend this book for anybody to read unless you don’t like reading about kids starving and fighting for their lives. However, think anybody would like this series.
This book was pretty easy to read. It's about a young woman who loves to bake. Her name is Emma. The problem is she has diabetes. Then this guy wants her to work as a baker in his hotel. She accepts the job. Her parents come and start a bunch of drama. Emma and the hotel dude fall in love.
I liked this book. It was funny and very interesting to read. The fact that Emma had diabetes but still did what she loved to do was cool. My favorite people in the book were the hotel guy's sisters. I gave this book five stars. Also, I would recommend that anybody read this book. It had nothing inappropriate in it. I love this book and can't wait to read the next one.
This book is about a group of kids that get what is like a big giant ball of energy around them with a ten mile diameter away from the power plant. Something horrible happens when a kid turns 15. Whenever a kid turns 15, they kind of “poof” or disappear. Most of the kids are developing crazy powers and the animals are beginning to mutate. Then there is a big battle between the bully’s and the good kids. A lot of children die from it but many survive. Then Sam's 15th birthday came but he fought against the “poof” and got to stay in the FAYZ. FAYZ stands for Fallout Valley Youth Zone. His evil twin brother Caine also survived the “poof”. Many also survived and many have powers that are not the safest to have in a city with all kids.
I really liked this book. I don’t recommend this book to all ages but if you’re older then please do enjoy this awesome book. I gave this book rating a five. I gave it a five because it was a very good battle book. It had a lot of interesting things that happened in it. The author described the battles and everything else extremely well. I loved this book.
This book, of course, is about a girl named Anne Frank. Anne was a girl who lived during World War II. Her family went into hiding when her sister, Margot, got a telegram telling her to report to the train station. Anne and Margot’s father had been preparing a place for them in an attic above his company in Amsterdam. One of Otto Frank, Anne’s father’s, employees, Miep Gies, helped them get food and other items. They had another family that was staying with them and a dentist as well. The family that was staying with the Franks had a son named Peter who Anne had a thing for. Their lives were torn apart when they were found in the attic.
This book helped me understand a teenage girl who lived and died during the time of World War II. Anne must have been and extremely strong person to have to entertain herself for those few years that her family was in hiding. She was also sent to a concentration camp where she had no clue what the Nazis were going to do with her or her friends and family. It was sad to me that the whole group all ended up dying except for Anne’s father. Otto Frank must have also been a mentally strong man to have his friends and family pass away and then publish his daughter’s diary. I think Anne and I are similar in ways. Anne was kind of the dreamer and the joker in her family. People should read this book to help them think about what they have and why they should be thankful for it.
This is a book about a guy named Charlie Gordon. He has and extremely low IQ. charlie is given an operation that works for a while that eventually wears off. At least that's what the scientists figured out using a mouse named Algernon. Not only does the smartness wear off but eventually Algernon dies. Charlie uses his last day swith the smartness to figure out a way to fix it and he calls it the Charlie Gordon Effect. He doesn't die like Algernon did but he isnt smart anymore.
I liked th book very much. It made methink about what he was going through. To be in his place would be kinda scary in a way. Since Algernon died from the operation, you would think that Charlie would have died too. Also, if you were in a sithuation where you had a really low IQ, like Charlie, than had on operation where you were smart for a while and turned back to how you were before would be kind of upsetting. I'm not the smartest person in my school but I would hate to not know when people are laughing at me to be mean. What I really don't like is when people laugh at people with mental problems. I think people should read this book to understan how it would feel to be a person like Charlie.
This book is about a young girl who's life is torn apart by WWII. Her name is Riva and the Nazi's hve taken everything away from her. Her mother was taken at the ghetto they were living. People were going to take her siblings away but she somehow got them to stay with her until they were all moved to another place. They arrived in cattle cars. The first thing they saw were the chimneys and the smoke. Riva was later taken to a labor camp where she had to help build bomb shelters for the Germans. Eventually some other Jews fighting for freedom came and Riva was set free. She never saw her family again but she was alive.
I loved this book. It was very inspirational. Before Riva's mother was taken away, she kept telling them to never give up hope. That was important then an it still is. Riva never gave up hope but she turned out okay and alive. She could tell the story to thousands of people who were maybe to proud to admit there was ever anyone hurting besides themselves. This book should be something that schools give kids to read. It was so amazing to read the story of a young girl going through things I hopefully don't have to go through.
This is the third and final book to the Hunger Games series. I thought it was the best out of all of them. It's more about taking over the Capitol and killing President Snow. Katniss is the face of the revoulution and her mockingjay pin is the symbol. Everyone tries to keep her under protection but she wants to be out fighting. She wants to kill Snow. In the end she kills the leader of District 13 but Snow dies anyway. She stood up for the Capitol's children by killing District 13's leader who wanted to put them through the Hunger Games.
I thought that it was a great ending for a great series. I hope Suzanne Collins writes more books. If this book is made into a movie, it won't beas good as the book but it will probably be the best out of all three of the movies. I liked taht katnis stood up for the children at the Capitol. She did it even though the Capitol had been so cruel to the other districts. It was sad when her sister died. I loved this book. It was so awesome.
This book is the second on in the three book series. It's a little more exciting than the first one but it made me a little more frustrated. Katniss knows about almost everything now. Her and Peeta are supposedly engaged. She has to go back to the arena. Peeta has to go too. The game is more for the people who have participated in the past games.Everyone has a plan to keep Katniss alive but she doesn't know it until the end.
I liked tis book because it was exciting. katniss saved mote people in this book, I think. The Capitol was angrier beacuse of what she did at the in end of the battle in the arena. She starts to care about Peeta more. Katniss' plan was to keep Peeta alive. Again, the book is probably better that the movie. I wish everyone would read this book. It's awesome!
This book is the first one in it's three book serie by Suzanne Collins. It's about a girl named Katniss Everdeen. In the time that she lives the United States are more like districts. There was thirteen districts until 13 was blown up by the Capitol. Katniss and her family and freinds live in District 12, the mining district. Every kid under the age 18 has to enter their name a certain amount of times for the Hunger Games. In the Hunger Games there is only one winner but Katniss wants to keep Peeta, a boy from her district, alive and she doesn't give up even when she has to go against the Capitol to keep them both alive. katniss Everdeen starts a revolution and no one could stop "the Girl on Fire."
I liked this book a lot because, like in the girl in " The Black Sheep," Katniss is trying to keep her worl together. She saved her sister by going to the games instead of her. She saved Peeta by having both of them eat the poison berries. Someone already made a movie for the Hunger Games but the book is always going to be better. My favorite part in the boook is when Katniss shots her arrow in the direction of the judges and then she got 11 points. The saddest part was when Rue got caught in the net and is shot so Katniss stays with her until she is dead. The book was so happy, sad, exciting and so much fun to read. I liked it so much.
This book is about a girl names Katy Bishop whos is fed up with her parents' binder full of rules. She writes to the TV show "The Black Sheep" but doesnt expect to be chosen for the life switching month of episodes. The life of the girl she switches with is so much different than her own. While she is staying with her new family, she gets involved with an aquarium and some local protesting group having to do with a fancy club filled with rich people. Katy doesn't expect to fall into jail or in love with Mitch, her "older brother," but both things happen. She is having to deal with with a pusy producer who will do anything for good ratings even if it means splitting Katy's real parents up. Katy is trying to save he parents and she is starting a riot in her world that is trying to fall apart everywhere she goes.
I like this book because it's about a teenage girl who is trying to prove herself to everyone. The camerasthat follow her everywhere mak it especially difficult. Somehow she gets everything to work out for her and her families. Katy gets in trouble with her real and TV parents, the law, her producer, and her new boyfriend, Mitch, but all of these things end well. My favorite part is when her TV family's ferret eats a diamond ring. They eventually get it back. Someone shlould make this book a movie. I love it!
This book starts out in tragedy. Jessica, a young lady who lives in the country has a lot on her mind and more when a family moves close to her families home. The man, David, in the new family has a wife with a child on the way. When, though, David's wife is having the baby, she dies during the birth. The baby is fine but David has no wife to take care of his baby. He hires Jessica to take care of his baby. The two don't get a long very well and eventually David asks his aunt to come and help. The aunt doesn't stay long and then Jessica is suddenly babysitting again. Her little brothers have gotten a disease that could be given to the baby so Jessica goes and stays in David's house while he is away.
One day there is a big flood and it was so big it filled David's home with watedr while Jessica and the baby where in it. They almost drown but and Indiand saves them. The Indian keeps them safe until the storm is over amd then brings them to Jessicas house. Jessica thinks she is in love with the Indian. However, he leaves and she never sees him again. She ends up being with David and that's the end. There is more to the book than there is in this review but it was quite a long book. I liked that it wasn't to musch close to modern times. That would have changed the way the story was. In the story, Jessica has a lot of courage and that was a good thing.
Emily is a book about a girl who lives in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Her family is rich and her parents want her to do everything she can to ensure that she is in high staus in the city. However, Emily does not believe in that. She grew up with her parents always gone on trips and it never changed as she got older. No it is worse because she has two siblings who are going through the same things she did. After her parents leave for a trip to Paris, her brother gets extremely sick and she is forced to get a doctor from the hospital downtown but the family doctor is out of town. Emily has to get the doctor's assisstant to care for her brother. While the assisstant is caring for her brother, Emily finds that she is interested in being a nurse. She decides to sign up as a volunteer nurse at the local hospital, which is the same hospital that the assisstant works at.
When her parents get home, its not as easy to keep the job. She is forced to quit the nursing. The assisstant has fallen in love with her and he convinces her parents to let her do what she loves. Her parents agree and then Emily ends up marrying the assisstant. I lile the way the book is written. It's as if Emily's mind is switching back and forth between two decisions. Even though she kind of disobeyed her parents, i like the way she stood up for what she wanted. In the beginning of her volunteering it was a liitle emabarrassing for her but then she learned not to care about other people thought og her. I show more think thats how a lot of peple should be instead af always worrying about what people think. show less
This book is about a girl who's name is Caitlin. Her story starts when her older sister runns away to be with some guy. Caitlin's family is upset and trying to get through the issue. One day Catitlin was at a party with one of her friends when Rogerson shows up. When she meets Rogerson she doesn't know what to expect. Which explains why she didn't think in the beginning that he was a drug dealer. So, Caitlin and Rogerson start dating. Caitlin tries out for cheerleading and makes it on the squad.
Her mother is supper excited about that and she works out a whole schedule for Caitlin. What Caitlin didn't see coming was Rogerson becoming abusive and hitting her. As the hitting gets worse Caitlin gets worse and eventually it gets so bad that Rogerson abuses her in front of her house. Her mother notices and stops the whole thing. Caitlin's mother send her to a place that helps her with her problem and eventually her sister comes back.
I think this was one of Sarah Dessen's best books that she wrote. It's very intense but if you read it you can understand it. I like how it packed in a bunch af teenage issues like family problems, dating abuse, drugs, and anything else that appears in the book. I also think it is a very good book for any teenager to read.
This book is about a girl named Marisa. She thinks that this guy named Derek is who she has been waiting for, but he has a girlfriend. Then there is this other guy, Nash. Nash is Marisa’s neighbor and childhood friend who happens to be a geek. Anyway, when Nash wants to start dating Marisa she says no and then they don’t talk for a long time. In between there, Derek breaks up with his girlfriend and then he asks Marisa out. After that Nash doesn’t think he has a chance with Marisa so then he asks another girl out. So that’s happening but there is more drama at her house. Her mother and father have announced that they are getting a divorce. Marisa is mad at her dad before she finds out that it was her mom who was having an affair. Her parents are separated and they both start dating other people. Derek decides to break up with Marisa and Nash’s girlfriend breaks up with him.
In the end Marisa and Nash end up being together. I liked this book a lot. It put a twist on the same story where the girl falls for the boy that is like her best friend. Being that it had family problems mixed in the story too, it made it even more interesting to read. Usually when writers put all those things in the same book it seems too dramatic for people to like. I think this book has more potential to be a good book than those fantasy love stories. Books like this seem more real than the fairies, vampires and werewolf kind of chronicles. This book might make a good movie
This book is about a girl who falls in love with her best friend's boyfriend. The main character's name is Lani and she has a friend named Erin. Erin just started dating Jason, who is the guy that Lani starts to like. Jason was liking Lani before he started dating Erin but he thought that Lani already had a boyfriend, so he didn't ask her out. Then Erin has to go to a camp during the summer where Jason sends her a letter telling her that he was breaking up with her. After Jason does that, he starts hanging out with Lani and they become like a couple. Erin doesn't know that they have been hanging out but when she gets back from camp she finds out and she is really mad. Erin sends an e-mail to their whole grade so that everyone thought that Lani had done something bad and that she is a boyfriend stealer. Lani and Jason start going out and everyone starts hating her and Jason. Erin made Lani promise that she wouldn't go out with Jason so then Lani tries to stay away from him. In the end Lani still ends up with Jason.
When people think af girls who fall in love with their best friend's boyfriend they think they're bad people. This book is different. I liked it a lot because it was making the best freind seemed like the bad person, but not in the bad way. The thing is, Jason never really like Erin. He had liked Lani but thought she had a boyfriend who wasn't really her boyfriend but her really good friend who didn't even like girls. Even though the situation was bad in the show more beginning, Lani and Erin become friends again and Lani gets to be with Jason. show less
This book is about a girl who goes through a really long and tough Civil War. Her name is Susannah and she lives in south. Her family loses a lot of money because it was taken from them by the yankees. First, her brother goes off to fight and then her fiance leaves with him. Her family is then flipped upsidedown when her father dies unexpectedly because of a heartattack. This leaves Susannah, her mother and her younger sisters alone in a house. Some Yankee soldiers move into their house but pay them back with food and clothe for new clothing. Then another tragedy happens. Susannah's brother and fiance both are killed during battle by the same shell. She falls in love with a yankee soldier that helped her family when they were starving and they eventually get married.
I liked this book because it was kind of like a version of Romeo and Juliet. Susannah and the Yanke soldier are in love but they can't be together because he is from the north and she is from the south. Plus, Susannah is ingaged to another man. Her fiance dies in the war so then she feels okay about loving the Yankee. Her family was against slavery and tried to help the north in whatever they could do. Well, they helped the more kinder northern troops, like the ones who were living in their house for a short time. Eventually everything works out for her family and she marries the Yakee Soldier.
This book is about a girl named Jennie who is trying to find her way in the world. She visits her aunts that live a few miles away from where her, her mother and younger brother own a boardinghouse. When she arrives to her aunts' house, she finds one of her aunts to be ill. Her aunt that is ill has to stay away from work to avoid getting worse. The aunts job is a morse code person. Jennie was taught morse code when she was younger and volunteered to take her aunts place. It was easy at first but then the flood happened. There were so many reporters who wanted her to send their stories through to their news stations. Jennie gets paid for her work and her aunt lets her stay to work there.
I liked this book because when the town was in the flood and Jennie was going through a lot of hardships, she didn't back away from her responsibilities. Even when she was caught in the flood she managed to stay srong. She saved a baby girl and escaped a burning pile of rubble that many were to trapped in that the were burned alive. Jennie didn't know what happend to her mother and brother, so she stayed awake for days walking around to search for her family. Jane Miner, I think, turned a tragedy into a story of a very adventurous young woman.
This book is about a girl named Cassie, who was captured by Indians at the age four. One day she was at the river near her tribe's camp, when a fur trapper named Joshua found her. They became quick friends but he had to leave for his job, but he said he would return to take her back to her real family. A woman in the tribe found out about Joshua and made her leave. Joshua returned and took her back to the town she was born in and she got to see her parents. Joshua leaves again and Cassie meets another guy which she doesn't know if she trusts. She gets into some trouble with some French soldiers and is sent to jail. Joshua comes to save her and they run off together to somewhere safe.
I like this book because it isn't only an adventure book but there is some history about the French and Indian War. So it actually makes your brain think about something that is important. It is not like the werewolf and vampire books that are putting mostly fictional things into your mind. Young girls really did get captured during the French and Indian War. Sometimes they were treated kindly and other times they were treated like slaves. This book was very good at giving information about it.
This book is about a girl named Garnet and her sister, Opal. Their mother had a dream that she wanted to go to Nashville to become a singer. Garnet and Opal's mom drops them off at their aunt's house in the middle of a really small town. Their aunt doesn't even have a TV or a vehicle to get around in. They start going to the school that is in the small town. Opal has an easy time finding friends and becoming popular at the school but Garnet has trouble finding a way to fit in. Their father work on a ship and is injured on one of his jobs when the boat explodes. He is in the hospital for a longtime before he can leave and take the girls home.
This book helps to understand the problems of a family. Garnet an Opal are left behind by their mother and have to stay with their aunt. Not only that but their father is injured. To them it seems that their world is falling apart but the find hope in the small town the live in. Opal helps Garnet fit into school and they help their aunt in every way they can to make financial problems less horrible. Eventually everything works out and they get to go back home. Its problems of everyday teenagers shoved into one book.
