I'm afraid I found myself unable to finish this book. It was a while ago now but I recall really not enjoying how the female character was written and I ditched it quite early on. Sorry!
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I really loved the premise of this book but I just couldn't quite get on board with the main relationship between the two main characters. While I definitely can believe that relationships can develop when survivors are thrown together as these two were, the fact that the woman had just lost her husband in the same event made the ensuing relationship far less believable. The story got a bit bogged down, too, in the investigation piece which I found quite distracting. And I had to keep asking myself, would you really go and live in a stranger's house for an indefinite amount of time when you've only just met?
There were elements of the story I liked - the two main characters definitely seemed likeable, him more so than her, but it just didn't feel like it was quite there yet.
That all being said, I did read the book right to the end which is a plus point in my world (I will happily ditch a book if it's not keeping me interested) and it was an easy read. :-)

This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.Being an immigrant myself, I was fascinated by the focus of this book of short stories and couldn't wait to read it. I wasn't expecting the series of short stories that were presented to me in this anthology though. Experiences far different from my own privileged one which really gave me pause for thought. The stories in this book were beautifully told and well worth reading.
