This is the tired and final chapter in the Looking Glass Wars Trilogy. The series is a spin off of Lewis Carrols most beloved children’s book, Alice In Wonderland. This teen drama puts a gruesome spin on the colourfull world of Wonderland. We follow Queen Alyss for her final battle to once and for all to reclaim her throne and restore peace to her land.
I waited for three years for this book to come out and I am not disappointed! Full of plot twists and mind blowing battle scenes, this book requires an older audience. Not for the complex language used but for the violent, detailed ways Frank Beddor describes battles, torture scenes, and death. The climax left me on the edge of my seat and when the end came I was begging for more. Not because the story was ended properly but because the adventures are amazing! Anyone who loved Alice in Wonderland will be sure to love this parallel story!

This poem is based off of the two most famous female pirates in history; Anne Bonney and Mary Reade who sailed the seas in the 1700’s. This is the epic ballad of their capture and how their fast thinking saved them from the same fate there male crew members suffered.
This poem is perfect for young girls! Pirates today play a huge part in pop culture. And while boys and girls alike read and love pirate stories, this story is about two very strong women in history. It is a very good example of “what ever boys can do, girls can do too!” In today’s society where there is equality of gender, it its great to see stories that promote woman in a situation where men are usually seen. The pictures in this poem were great as well! They had a painted feel and went very well with the text. The language flowed like a traditional rhyming poem and the “old language” was fun to read!

This is a classic Lewis Carroll poem about the mythical Wonderland monster The Jabberwocky and how it was sleighed.
Being a Lewis Carroll fan myself I jumped at the opportunity to read and review this poem! While I have read it within the pages of Through the Looking Glass it is much better to read as a stand-alone poem. The pictures add to the colorful nonsensical language with even more obscure creatures to find within the pages. If you are looking for a poem to be silly with, this is it!

Another classic! This is a beautiful story that deals with self esteem issues and not fitting in. The photos in this story were beautiful and very detailed. I have always loved this story and even have an ugly duckling charm on my charm bracelet. Every child should read this story. This particular version was perfect for children with large font but not so simple that it might offend a bright child. I think every child who feels low about them selves should read this story!
The classic tale of Hansel and Gretel lost in the woods and captured by the evil witch. Only this time, the witch is there step mother who turned there mother into a tree in order to capture the heart of their father and destroy the brother sister duo. The witch hopes to have their fathers love all to her self. Little does she realize how much the family loves each other and how far Hansel and Gretel are willing to fight for each others lives when in her capture.
I have read many versions of this classic Grimm’s Brother fairy tales before however I was very pleased with this one. The story is self is lengthy for a children’s “typical book” but it was never to hard understand. The photos were beautiful and a great addition to the story. They reminded me of folk and peasant Germany with traditional clothing you might now see on a heritage dancer. It’s a good story of hope, love, perseverance and family.

The Little Prince (Wordsworth Children's Classics) (Wordsworth Collection) by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
The little prince is the story of a young “boy” from another planet whom is discovered by an airman stranded in the dessert. The Little prince tells him of his intergalactic travels and those he meets along the way.
I did not enjoy this book at all. It was sad, confusing, and at times not suitable for children. Most of the tones in the book are written towards children but they have a deeper meaning that only adults will pick up on. While it was a short read it was not always easy. The language was easy enough to read but the plot was choppy and bizarre. I was disappointed. Everyone told they loved this book. Why didn’t I?

Starting in Puerto Rico, this is story of a little girl Siena and her desire to be a dancer, her love for the stage, and he passion for the art. It takes you on her journey to New York where she is accepted to the most prestigious ballet school, her rise to the stage and how dancing helped her in the most trying times in her life. This graphic novel one the Robert Sibert Honor Book award and was chosen for the YRCA .
I am not a graphic novel fan by any means. However, I thought this was the cutest story I have read in a while. I was a dancer when I was little and this reminded me of my “prima ballerina” days. While I do not dance any longer I still loved this story! It is a story that many young girls can relate to I am sure. The words are splayed on the page in winding ribbons much like the movements of a young dancer. A book to bring a smile to the faces of any girl who dances, danced, or dreamed of the stage!

This story is based on the adult non-fiction book. Dewey the library cat. In this Childs adaptation, we once again follow Dewey through his misadventures and the want to be able to help people who come into his library.
When I first read the adult version of this book I cried! It was a beautiful true story and that same fact remains for the children’s version. While it seams like just a cute story about a cat turns out to be a true story! The illustrations in this book are perfect. They look exactly like real photos of Dewey. While much of the storey was cut down to cater to children, they did not forget to keep in the most important personality quirks of Dewey; much like his love of rubber bands, the particular way he likes to be pet, and his love of people. If you have ever read the full adult version of Dewey, you will be sure to love this one too!

I loved this book! Not only is it a true story, but it deals with issues that in today’s modern society. When I read this book I could not stop smiling. It is such a cute heartwarming story of love, which any child can understand. The language flows and the photos are just too cute! I would recommend this book to any one, parents or child.

Madeline are the classic stories of Ludwig Bemelmans in which the stories tell the tale of a little red headed girl names Madeline, the smallest of 12 little girls who live with their teacher Miss Clavel. Madeline in America is a never before published story from Bemelmans which was found among his positions by his grandson after his death. Madeline and her friends travel to Texas to claim Madeline’s new fortune hat was left to her after her great-gandpapa. It is a classic Bemelmans Christmas tale
When I first found out about this book I went nuts! I loved Madeline as a child. When I read that they were the original drawings and original script, I was overjoyed to here that nothing would be different from what I remember. I am so glad I found this book! I loved this book just as much as much as I loved the original ones! It’s a great tale to read at Christmas time or anytime of the year to keep that good old fashion Madeline Christmas spirit alive!
