Came close to flinging this across the room when every dozen pages or so we get a ton of history and countless names. The story of Dunk and Egg too often drowns in the very dry history of Westeros that I am close to past caring about.
The language really makes this more of a challenge than it should be. Groundbreaking, yes. An enjoyable read? Not so
Mixture of electric poetry and banal self indulgence
Very well written but the sheer volume characters, uninteresting plot, and an overwhelming amount technical details meant I gave up and never finished the book
A slog to get through. The language grates very quickly and at worst overpowers the narrative. Very much of the time and not a shade on Le Carré’s carefully constructed prose with well drawn characters.
