A interesting and tedious read. It took me 3 months to finish this book where it normally takes me 3 days for a regular book.
In board games terms, Freya is a bard who always roll a 20 while having zero combat and health points. It's also a fascinating window to the 1930s-1950s era of Europeans (mostly British) cultivating and increasing their control over the Arabian nations and Northern African nations. The book doesn't touch much on Germany's role in WWII, and mostly focuses on the rise of the fascist regime in Italy.

I cried. 5/5 stars. Difficult but well written scenes that made my heart pound and I think I lost few pounds from not eating afterward.
Excellent mystery book - didn't see the twist coming. Would reread!
