I wish this book were better, because it has an important message, and that message is that bigtech is going to take over our lives and turn us into drones who are too scared to speak, or think, or love or do anything, except tap the goddamn keys that I'm tapping now.

Read it -- give Eggers a free pass on character and dialogue, and read the message. Then throw your smartphone in the river and bury your laptop in the garden. Oh, actually..., maybe take them to the municipal dump so that they can be disposed of responsibly without the mercury and other rare metals contaminating the water supply.... but either way, free yourself from the terror of social media.
