A brilliant follow-up to "A Big Boy Did It and Ran Away", revisiting some of the characters from that story and introducing some new ones. It could probably be read and enjoyed without having read "A Big Boy..." but is possibly more rewarding by having the background information. There was quite a gap between my reading of these two books, but once I began "Snowball" it all came flooding back.
"Snowball" takes a savage satirical swipe at our current culture of instant celebrity via "reality" shows like "Big Brother" and the various manufactured pop act programmes, tabloid journalism and other deserving targets. This results in a villain who is to be both applauded for taking a stand against mediocracy, but vilified for his methods. All this is wrapped up in a neat thriller with plenty of twists and turns which will keep you guessing and reading right to the end.
