The story was solid, meaning I was never bored with it. Pati did an amazing job with painting a vivid, bright, and clear picture of every scene and kept the story moving at a good pace, however the one thing that bugged me throughout the story was how fast Holly simply accepted this mystical world and soon was obssesed with it. A little more back story to Holly's love of magical wonder would have made the book all the better. Over all though, a great story!
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. It's very rare to read a book that flows perfectly, and this is one of those. Barry wrote this book with just enough detail to paint a vivid picture, but short enough to not be too wordy like some books such as Lord of the Rings. Over all, the books action is always moving. This series is now one that I want to follow.I can't wait to go back and read the first one!
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. This book covers an interesting twist on medieval war, perfect for any one interested in an action/romance taking place in a time similar to the Dark Ages. Tamara starts off the book as a one personality character; she's tough, self reliant, and doesn't care about what others think. As the story develops you discover various idiosyncrasies that individualize Tamara and make her a fuller and rounder character including her relationship with Jessup, her friendship with Cedrian, and her mess up family life. Over all this is a great book, especially if you like books that medieval with a twist of magic.

This book took many twists and turns. It had me quickly enveloped in the story and I couldn't wait to read more. The character of Annabelle had me laughing with some of her pessimistic, sarcastic remarks. Harry/Steve was a very interesting character who showed an interesting look on that of the human soul. Overall, I thought this book was amazing; the perfect hellish story.
This book caught my attention fairly quickly; I was so enthralled with the text I soon found my nose to the computer screen as I tried to read faster and faster. Most of the characters were developed beautifully, such as Fiona, but a few (such as Keith) should have had more development; that being said, the book could have been longer. Over all the book was great! The plot had some good twists, the characters reacted in a realistic way, and it was a great idea for a sci-fi novel in general. A great quick read that's definitely worth your time!
