I’m not 100% sure but I think I am the biggest reader in my family. I know there are others that read, but I’m not sure anyone reads as much as I do. I’m also a book hoarder collector so when someone in my family was moving, they gave me a bunch of books they didn’t want anymore. This person reads mostly westerns (especially Louis L’Amour) which was something I hadn’t really read but had been meaning to get into.

This is only my second or third western and it was my first Louis L’Amour novel and I was excited to get into it. I’m not exactly sure how I feel about To Tame A Land. Part of me really liked it, but I just couldn’t rate it high. I feel like this could have been an amazing book if it had just been longer. It’s 154 pages and when the story starts Rye is twelve years old, but by the end he’s a lot older (I can’t remember his exact age). I don’t know if this is a common thing for westerns, Louis L’Amour, or just this book, but I didn’t like that he aged a year basically every ten pages.

I am slightly disappointed and I’m not sure if it’s because I had higher expectations for this book than I thought I would, or because it could have been a great book if it was a couple hundred pages longer and more flushed out.

At the end of the day, I liked the characters, I liked the plot and the writing was great, but I just can’t give it more than two stars. It just seemed too rushed. Hopefully this isn’t a common thing with L’Amours books show more because I have a stack of them and they are all pretty short. show less
I won this book a really long time ago. Back when I had my old blog. I was so excited because I had been wanting to read A Need So Beautiful for a long time, and getting this book was the perfect excuse to finally get the first one. Unfortunately it didn’t work out that way. It took me a very long time to get my hands on A Need So Beautiful. When it finally happened, I read it right away and really liked it. As soon as I finished, I went right into this one.

Guys, I hate to say it but I didn’t like this one as much. I still liked it, but it wasn’t as good. I liked Elise, but not as much as Charlotte. I’m not sure why that is. I kind of felt that way about all the characters. I liked them, but not as much. I still enjoyed this book and I wish there was a third book because I want more.
I wanted this book before it even came out but it took me years to find it. One day I just happened to be at the book store and there it was, a signed hardcover for $5. I don’t think I’ve ever grabbed a book off the shelves that fast before. As soon as I bought it, I started reading it and I couldn’t put it down. It was just so good. I had to keep reading to find out what would happen next.

The writing, the character, and the plot are all really good. As soon as I finished reading A Need So Beautiful I went to my shelves, picked up A Want So Wicked and started reading it. I needed more.
I have been wanting to read this book for a very long time and was finally able to do so when I was gifted a copy of it.

The Bar Code Tattoo is about something that is possible, which is a very scary thing to think about. I was in a reading slump when I started reading this book and it brought me right out of it. I was pulled in from the first page. I just had to know what was happening and how it was going to turn out.

There were some things about it that I had problems with. Mainly characters just showing up randomly. Other than that, I really enjoyed this book and will eventually pick up book two, The Bar Code Rebellion.
I’m going to be completely honest here, I read this book because of the cover. I love it and if it wasn’t for the awesome cover, I probably wouldn’t have read it. I’m not the biggest fae fan and I only like steampunk, I don’t love it. So I was surprised that I actually enjoyed Innocent Darkness.

Obviously, since I only like it, I thought it had its problems. There was even a point when I was reminded of Twilight. I rarely compare things to Twilight but V was acting like Edward. He just pissed me off. I also didn’t like the love triangle. Usually they don’t bother me but it did this time. I can’t put my finger on why.

Other than that, the book was very enjoyable, and I’m glad I read it. I will probably read the next book, Charmed Vengeance, at some point.
Where do I begin? I’ve read only three books this year (2012) so far that have pulled me in completely and this is one of them. While reading The Hunger Games I forgot all about sleep and eating. I couldn’t put it down. I read right through it, dying to know what was going to happen next.

There were so many times I picked The Hunger Games up in the store just to put it back because of all the hype. It’s the same reason it sat on my self for months before I finally decided to give it a try.

The hype for other books ruined them for me so I was more than a little worried going into this one. I am so glad I didn’t pass it up. I think the last time I read a book with a plot this good, characters this interesting and with writing this incredible was when I read Harry Potter for the first time. I have never compared anything to Harry Potter before because I had never read anything as perfect as that series until now.

If the other two books are as amazing as the first, I know I will be re-reading all three over and over again for many years.
I love this trilogy, however I was slightly disappointed with this book. After I finished Catching Fire, I had to start Mockingjay right away. Going from such an amazing read is probably why I didn’t enjoy this one as much as the first two. Don’t get me wrong, it is still an incredible read, it just didn’t feel the same as the books before it.

I gave it 4 out of 5 stars because even though it was a bit of a let down, I still really loved it. I wish there was more.
What can I say about Catching Fire other than wow! I put off reading The Hunger Games because of all the hype. After I finally read it, and loved it, I told myself I would put off reading Catching Fire because I wanted these books to last as long as possible. It wasn’t easy but I managed to keep it on my shelf for a month or so.

I finally caved and read it and I loved it just as much as the first book. I may have even enjoyed it more. I want to dive right into Mockingjay. I want, no, I need more.

Collins really knows how to create amazing stories and develop incredible characters. I need to read Mockingjay right now. I can’t wait any longer. I have to know how it all ends.
This honestly could have been a five star book. It was actually that good. Almost everything about this book is perfect. I only had a couple of problems with it. For one, it was way too short. Everything just happened way too fast. There could have been so much more. I also had a problem with the main character, Sherry. She just didn’t seem to really care about her grandmother at all. That just didn’t seem to come across as realistic. Other than those two things I had a huge problem with, everything else seemed great. I can’t wait to read book two, The Life Beyond, and continue on with this story.
I didn’t know what to expect going into this book. The movie is so good, so I was worried I was going into it expecting too much and that I would be let down. At the same time it’s Stephen King, so of course it would be great. I just didn’t know what to think.

It was so good. It’s not one of my favorites by King, but I still really really liked it. There wasn’t anything I disliked about it so it probably deserves five stars. However, I didn’t love it for some crazy reason. So I’m giving it four stars.

I have now read four books by Stephen King. I’ve read Dreamcatcher, Pet Sematary, ‘Salem’s Lot (my review), and obviously, The Shining. What book by him should I read next?
‘Salem’s Lot is one of those books I’ve been wanting to read for years. For some strange reason I just never bought it. So when I found it at the library I was beyond excited. Now that I’ve read it, I wish I had bought it.

I love Stephen King. Even though I haven’t read many of his books, he is still one of my favorite authors. So I had extremely high expectations going into this one. I was only a tiny bit disappointed.

I absolutely loved every single thing about this book. The plot was amazing, the characters were great, and of course it was well written. As soon as I finished reading the last page, I started telling everyone I know to read it if they haven’t already. It is incredible.

So you are probably wondering why I said I was a little bit disappointed and why I only gave it four stars instead of five. Well, I didn’t find ‘Salem’s Lot creepy. Everyone that I’ve talked to that has read it said it was really scary. It takes a lot to freak me out, so I shouldn’t have been disappointed that I didn’t get even a bit creeped out, but I was. I wanted to be scared.

Overall, it was an amazing read. I would love to re-read it someday. Maybe a second reading will put it up to five stars since I will know going into it that it isn’t scary.

If you haven’t read this one, you need to. It is such an amazing story. I flew through it in two days. It was so good. Please pick it up.
I am loving this series and I don’t want to stop reading it. I told myself I would only read the first three and then move on to other books. I was planning on continuing on in a month or two, but I want to keep going. This book was by far the best one so far and I’m loving the fact that each book gets bigger.

I don’t think there was a single thing I didn’t love about this one. I love Cress and of course Iko and Thorne were perfect. The plot is incredible. I just love everything about this series and I can’t get enough of it.

If you haven’t picked these books up, please do it. I will be making all the readers in my life read The Lunar Chronicles. It’s just so good.
As soon as I finished Cinder, I picked up Scarlet and once again I couldn’t put it down. Though I have to admit this one was a bit slower for me because I love Cinder. Even though I enjoyed all of the other characters, I just couldn’t wait to get back to Cinder and Thorne. Scarlet is amazing, but Cinder is just a bit better.

I am still blown away by the story and the writing. I am flying through these books and I’m pretty sure Marissa Meyer is going to be a new favorite author. I just want to read everything by her.

I can’t wait to get into Cress and continue on with this series. These books are so good.
I have owned this book since it came out and I can’t believe it has taken me this long to read it. I know part of the reason I didn’t pick it up right away is because I have a horrible memory so I need to marathon series. That doesn’t completely explain why I didn’t get to it until 2018. I should have read this years ago. I can’t believe I’ve had a book this good on my shelves since 2012 and I didn’t know it. I know everyone says it’s amazing so I should have known, but I have been burned by that in the past. Many times.

This is by far the best book I’ve read in a long time. While reading Cinder, I had the same feeling I used to get when I first got into reading. The love, happiness, excitement, and curiosity I used to experience when I read. Like I was going on an adventure. The need to do nothing but read the book. I haven’t had that in years.

I loved Cinder, Iko, & Kai. I loved everything about this book and if the rest of the series is half as good as this one, it will definitely be a new favorite.
I have had this book on my shelf for a while. I’ve been so excited to read it, but I was also nervous about it. I know Felicia has anxiety and talks about it, so I had to wait until I was in a good place before I could start it. I’m so glad that I finally got to read it, because I absolutely loved it.

I have looked up to Felicia for years. I’ve always thought she was amazing and after reading this, I think it even more. Honestly, I don’t know what I can say about this that isn’t me just gushing about how much I loved it and how much I love Felicia.

This is one I will be re-reading many times. Possibly every year. I will also be recommending it to everyone I know.
I’m only just getting into westerns and when a family member that reads a lot of them was moving, he gave me a couple of bags full. I’ve been slowly working my way through them by reading one a month and so far this is one of the better ones I’ve read.

With it being such a short book, I don’t know what I can really say about it. Unlike my last L’Amour novel, the length didn’t bother me because this one didn’t take place over years. The characters were interesting, I enjoyed the plot and the writing was great.

I’m still not loving westerns but every month they seem to get a bit better and now I’m starting to look forward to the next one.
I won a copy of this book from Goodreads.

I don’t read a lot of cozy mysteries. I’ve always been interested in them and I have a lot of them on my wish list, but for some reason I rarely pick them up. Winning Hummus and Homicide was perfect because it gave me that nudge I needed. Also. I love hummus.

Unlike the few that I’ve read, this one actually seemed believable. Lucy was a believable character. The plot was believable. The ending was believable. I really liked that. All of the characters were fantastic, and I loved the town. I’ve lived in a small town my whole life so I love when stories take place in small towns.

I can’t say that the book blew me away, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. Every single time I had to put it down, I just wanted to get back to it. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next one, Stabbed in the Baklava.
Even though I haven’t read that many Doctor Who books, out of the four or five that I have read, I think this one might be my favorite.

I couldn’t put it down and read it in one sitting. There were just so many funny moments. Out of the few Doctor Who books I’ve read, the Doctor always seems a little off to me, but in this book, to me at least, he seemed to be a lot like he was on the show.

The only reason I didn’t give this one five stars, was the fact that at times when the American characters were talking or thinking, they would say or think things that just didn’t seem right. At least I didn’t think they sounded right. I mean I don’t live in America, I live in Canada and I wasn’t alive in the 60’s so maybe I’m wrong. Like at one point Warren is backing up and it says that “He felt the back of his legs bump against something hard. The front bumper of the ambulance. He reached back to feel around on the vehicle’s bonnet with his fingertips, trying to work out which door he was closet to.” Bonnet? Am I wrong about this? Do some Americans say bonnet? Maybe I just read it all wrong. Maybe I’m completely clueless.

Overall it was a great read. However, I am now out of Doctor Who books. I must get more.
I honestly wasn’t expecting much from this book. I can’t even explain why because I have no idea. I was hoping I would enjoy it, but I just didn’t think I would. I really wish I knew why that is. All I can say is that I’m glad I was wrong. Boy was I wrong. Guys, I really, really liked this book.

I absolutely loved Saz. She was by far the best character. The others were okay, but there was something about Saz. There is this one part, and I wont spoil it, but it made me laugh out loud. I couldn’t believe she got herself into that situation and I loved how she got out of it.

This book might not be for everyone, but I definitely think everyone should pick it up and give it a chance.
I loved this book so much. I love this trilogy. When I read The Devouring, I couldn’t stop talking about how great it was. Soulstice was also amazing, but not as good as the first book. So I have been dying to read Fearscape for a very long time, I just didn’t want this trilogy to end. I was also worried I would be let down. However, I wasn’t.

This book was just as good as the first two. It’s not as scary as The Devouring, but it has a lot of action. I flew right through it. I couldn’t put it down. I had to know what would happen to these characters and what would happen to the Vours. In the end, I am very pleased with how it all turned out. I usually don’t like last books in series but for the first time I can say that I loved every book.

If you haven’t read these yet, please go pick up The Devouring right now. I promise you wont regret it.
This was another one of those books I wanted for a long time before buying it. For some reason it also sat on my bookshelf for a year before I finally picked it up. I have no idea why it took me so long to read this book, but now that I have, I’m dying for the second one.

Infinity was the first book by Sherrilyn Kenyon that I’ve read and obviously it wont be my last. I was pulled in from the first page and I did not want to stop reading. It is such a fun, easy read that has great characters, lots of action and makes you laugh out loud. If the rest of Kenyons books are this good, I may have found another favorite author.
After re-reading the first book and enjoying it, I couldn’t wait to get into this one. Unfortunately I didn’t like it as much as the first one. I still enjoyed it, but there was something missing. I went into the first book expecting not to like it and I enjoyed it. I went into this one with higher expectations. So maybe it wasn’t missing something. Maybe my expectations were just too high for this one.

I don’t think I mentioned in my review of 13 to Life that Max is my favorite character, so I will just say it now. Even though I know when he’s around I will be rolling eyes at the stuff he says, I just can’t help myself. He is kind of a dork and I love him for it. He just always makes me laugh. I laughed out loud a lot while reading this book.

I did have a problem with the fact that there is a character that keeps forcing himself on Jessie. Well, my problem is more with what happened after that. Not to mention a character that has an abusive boyfriend. It just didn’t seem like it was really handled well in this book. These things happen and then nothing. We basically hear nothing about the abusive boyfriend again. Hopefully there is more about it in the third book. It came out of nowhere, and then went nowhere. I’m rambling and probably not making much sense.

Other than those problems, I enjoyed it. Most likely because it made me laugh so much. If it wasn’t for the funny parts, I would probably have rated this book two stars.
I don’t know what I can say about this book since it’s the last in the series. I really don’t want to spoil anything.

Rivals and Retributions was a pretty good book. I enjoyed it and was going to give it three stars but after finishing it I realized that I couldn’t do it. I didn’t like the ending of this book. It was rushed and too perfect.

I am really glad that I finally read this series because for the most part I enjoyed it. I just wasn’t really into the last two books. It’s a fun series that has a good amount of action and romance. It had it’s problems but it also made me laugh out loud a lot. The Princess Bride stuff was amazing.

If you really like YA paranormal, you might want to check out this series. If not, you might want to stay away from it. :)
I’m not sure how I feel about this one. It was definitely my least favorite of the series so far. I did get a bit bored while reading it. With the other three books, I read them each in a day. This one took me four or five days to get through. The ending was pretty good. I was really getting into it and for some reason thought I had ten pages left, so when I read the last page and turned to find the acknowledgments, I was so surprised. If I remember correctly, none of the other books left off on a cliffhanger, but this one did.

Even though this one wasn’t my favorite, I can’t wait to read the last book, Rivals and Retribution, and find out how everything ends.
Am I going to give every book in this series three stars? This was another good one. This series has been a lot of fun so far. Although with an abusive boyfriend in the last book and someone getting raped in this one, it’s getting pretty serious. Though I will admit that I think it was handled a bit better in this one.

It’s getting to the point where I just don’t know what to say in these reviews because I’m coming out of each book thinking the same thing. It was a good read and was really funny. Max is the best. I can’t wait to pick up the next one to see what happens. That is pretty much it. Sometimes three star books are the hardest to review. They are good books, but since they aren’t amazing I don’t really have anything to gush about. If they were two stars or less I would have more to complain about. However, they are three stars. They are good books. I guess I will just pick up the next book, Destiny and Deception, and see if this series continues to be good.
This was a re-read for me. I read this book when it first came out. I couldn’t remember what happened in it, just that I really liked it. Now that I’ve read it again, I can say that I still enjoyed it, but I had to drop it down to three stars because I wanted to smack the main character pretty much the entire time I was reading.

My biggest problem with this book is the fact that Jessie and Pietr like each other, but Jessie says she can’t be with him because Sarah likes him and she can’t do that to her friend. Yet she doesn’t seem to have any problem kissing him behind her friends back every single chance she gets.

That is pretty much my only real complaint about this book. I enjoyed everything else and I’m looking forward to finally reading the next book in the series, Secrets and Shadows.
I have been meaning to read something by Sarah Waters for years. So when I won The Paying Guests from Goodreads, I was surprised and super excited. As soon as I finished my library books, I picked this up and couldn’t put it down.

It was a little slow at first, but it was so well written and I found the characters so interesting that I didn’t mind that it was slow. It wasn’t long before I was completely pulled in and I needed to keep reading to know how it would all end.

I own Tipping the Velvet and hope to get to it soon. I will also be buying the rest of Sarah Waters books in the future. If the rest of her books are as good as this one, I may have new favorite author.
The Salbine Sisters is an incredible read. I honestly don’t even know where to begin. This is one of the best books I read last year. It is beautifully written, with amazing characters and a fantastic plot. I wish it never had to end. I just couldn’t get enough and when I got to the last page I was so sad that there was no more.

I love this book so much and I recommend it to everyone. You have to pick this one up. Please get it. It is a must read. You will love it. I know I will be re-reading this one in the future. Probably more than once.
Believe it or not, this was the first Sarah Dessen book I’ve ever read. I actually won this book awhile ago with a couple of others. I just kept putting it off since I didn’t know what to expect going into it but I can honestly say that I enjoyed it so much that now I want to read all of Sarah Dessens books.

This Lullaby was a fantastic read. It was also a fast read. I flew right through it needing to know how it would end. I just couldn’t put it down. I kept telling myself that I would take a break after one more chapter but that never happened. I read the whole thing in one sitting.

The main character, Remy, was hard to like at times but for me that just made her seem more real. She actually had flaws which is pretty unique. Usually if a main character has flaws it’s something that can be looked at as kind of cute and not much of an actual flaw. So as much as I wanted to smack Remy sometimes, it was also refreshing to have a character that seemed so real.

Dexter was just plain awesome. I wanted to be friends with him from the start. He is so funny and just impossible to not like. He had me laughing so hard at times. Even weeks after reading This Lullaby I wanted Dexter to be real and not a fictional character so I could hang out with him

Overall, this was a great book, with an interesting plot and it was well written. I am now a Sarah Dessen fan and I will definitely be picking up more of her books in the future.
I’ve been wanting to read this book for the longest time. I am so happy that I’ve finally read it. It is such a good read. How the animals were treated broke my heart but I was expecting that going into it. While I was reading it, I did not want to put it down. I absolutely loved Rosie, Bobo and Queenie. However, my favorite character by far was Walter.

Even though I can’t think of anything I disliked about Water for Elephants, I don’t think I can say that I loved it. Although, the more I think about the book, the more I realize just how much I enjoyed it. I don’t really know what else I can say. I am so confused about how I feel about this book. One minute I think I just liked it (3 stars), the next I think I really liked it (4 stars). This is a hard one for me to rate and review, but I’ve done my best. :)

I haven’t seen the movie yet and I’m not sure if I want to watch it. Have you watched it? Should I give it a try at some point?
