This is the fourth book from Mr. Azrieli that I have read and as with the other ones I am pleasantly surprised. This book has suspense from the very beginning with the hostage situation. This book while set in more modern times has a very film noir old school detective feel to it. This book is also very race against “timey”, but that enhances the old school suspense. Bringing down corrupt officials is always icing on the cake of justice. Overall a very good read.
This book is all kinds of good espionage goodness. It’s a continuation from the Jerusalem Inception where all the major players returned for an encore performance albeit much older. The book starts off with a low rumble assassination that was very intense and leads up to an actual historical event that most of us are familiar with. A lot of the themes from the last book like Ultra-Orthodox religion, Religious Fundamentalism and historical facts make their way back into the book and it can be overpowering at times, but that is the nature of the beast. The way that he keeps the Nazi money going from the last book till now was very inventive and brings up topics on overseas banking practices. This book has a little something for everyone and I loved it.
This book took me completely by surprise. It has an espionage mixed with Nazis, with a little dose of violent beginnings that I didn’t expect. This book has an isolationist undertone to it but only concerning the host nation trying to stay safe in a troublesome time. Then you get a curve ball thrown at you a few chapters in that sets the tone for the rest of the book. Nazi money is just an extra added bonus. I personally like books that start in one era and changes pace to move into the future with the same players being reunited even though this reunion definitely felt forced and was used for all sorts of dramatic effect. If you like religion sprinkled with spy then this is definitely for you. Overall an excellent read.
I was a little apprehensive to read this at first since I don't know much about the Mormon faith, but this book turned out to be something special. My favorite parts are the "flashbacks" specifically. They paint this picture of intrigue that really sets the tone for the rest of the book and makes it worth reading. There were a few plot twists that I saw coming but that actually heightened the suspense because you were literally waiting for it to happen. Being a former Soldier I recommend this book because it paints a picture of what I like to call the Military/Faith complex that I had to deal with myself. Overall good read.
