Simply the best novel I've read in a long time, and one of the best Fantasy novels I've ever read.

I loved the detailed science behind the world, the complex and interesting politics, and the characterization during the first 2/3 of the book. The characters are so compelling, with interesting and believable motivations. Sadly, character motivations seem to spin out of control and believability during the last several chapters.

Still, an excellent read that raises interesting questions about humanity and technology.
