I always enjoy Time Machine stories so I thought this would be fun. It certainly is an interesting concept and includes some unique ideas with historical facts. There are various short stories, some of which are better than others. I think the book lacks development but has the potential to be a Neal Stephenson or Neil Gaiman or Steven King 11/22/63 if the stories were reworked or developed.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I am visiting Israel later in the year and thought this would be interesting to read. Seventy collections of stories with photographs gives great insight into the history of Jewish people. I would prefer a physical copy but it is certainly a valuable resource for those interested in the Nation.

Love this book actually. Finally, I can get my head round all the Greek Gods etc. Going to read his other books.
I love the subject matter of this book and the journey that we take from London to Sri Lanka to Italy. Plenty of rich description and an interesting unusual story. Good literary fiction.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.Unfortunately, this is book 3 in a trilogy and it is taking time to get into this. At first I found the style disjointed and difficult to read. I was interested in this book as it featured London and time travel but I am not a great Romance Reader. I am going to see if I can get the first 2 books and start again. It is certainly worth reading but I am not a great fan of all the dialogue. I prefer Connie Willis' time travel books set in London.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I agree with some other readers that the downside to this book is that the texts selected are limited. Although there is a good template for use with other literature. A great resource.

I actually am enjoying this book. You read one chapter a week and are given reasons to change your behaviors, values, thoughts and feelings as well as understanding how those around us impact our efforts. This is a new approach for me and I like it. I think the edition layout and cover design could be improved.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.A miracle at Christmas story which is soppy and sentimental but still managed to bring a tear to the eye! Perfect for 3-6 year olds. Not too keen on the illustrations as they are not very cute.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.Enjoyable little story collection for children aged 6-8 primarily to read themselves or younger to have the stories read to. Some might complain that they are too pedantic or moralizing but kids won't notice. They are just full of stories with cute characters and life lessons. Beautiful illustrations too. Hope it will be in physical format too.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.Excellent book that covers all the bases with plenty of examples.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. This is a delightful story full of humour commemorating the Great War in Stannington, Northumberland. It is based on a true story about a horse and a cat that went to the war together. Ridley the cat, becomes Peter the mascot for the Northumberland Hussars and he joins Percy the war horse as the two animals go on a great adventure which takes all the courage they can muster. Told with humour and charm, we become very fond of the animals as we go with them on their journey. Fantastic illustrations and lovely hold in the hand sizing, this story will appeal to children and adults alike.
I loved Wesley The Owl (author of the book and introduction)and hoped I would love this. I guess I am more interested in owls than geese. This was a nice story but I didn't feel the author's connection to the goslings enough to give this 4 stars. However, it will appeal to people who like books about animals and pets.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. The Trials of Nina McCall: Sex, Surveillance, and the Decades-Long Government Plan to Imprison "Promiscuous" Women by Scott W. Stern
Well written and researched but clearly a niche market book that will not appeal to all. An interesting unfamiliar topic that needs to be brought out in the open.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I work with this age group and found the text over complicated for struggling readers.I see that it is in fact primarily for gifted students. It would be helpful to provide material suitable for reader's other than those who are more able students in the same book. The story pages could be in larger type or bigger font with more interesting illustrations. Other than this, the book does what it says it will do.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It reminds me of the writing of Dan Simmons. A very good thriller, although the story is a little far fetched and long winded at times, it still grabs you from beginning to end.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. An interesting memoir about family life in Queens. Will probably appeal to New Yorkers but the writing was not sufficiently a compulsive read for me.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. This book is okay. Of course, I did compare it with the Cadfael Series about Monks and mysteries too. This one is rather too slow and plodding with a lot of detail. It was interesting to get to know about life in a medieval Monastery but the plot storyline was a little too thin for my liking.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. The first story is highly entertaining as it features the real-life drug lord “El Chapo.” The character, a waiter, struggles with what to do with a rather large tip he received from the drug king. An SUV arrives to divide a Mexican Romeo and Juliet love. Many of the stories cover the very present-day and violent topic of narcos and cartel crime. All of these short stories will take you on a winding path down the many lives of modern Mexican people. I recommend this book for short-story lovers and anyone who would like a peek into raw humanity and its emotions.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. This is a perfect book for the age group of 9-12 year olds. Boys love adventure books and this is certainly packed with excitement. Well written and comparable to other authors who write for this age group like Anthony Horowitz. I hope they will buy and read this...if you can get them away from all the Minecraft fiction!
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I found this book to be very engaging. her writing is very descriptive in the sense that you can actually visualize what is happening before your eyes. eg. the scene at the beginning of Part two relating to the ants! I can feel the atmosphere of the hot afternoons. Recommend this one!
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I seemed to be different from the majority of readers in that I did not really enjoy this book. It was well written and I liked the way the readers' perspective kept changing, but the content was too intense for me. I think at another time and on another day, I might be more in the mood for a novel about drug abuse and prison but not at this time.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.Loved this book. Very Kafkaesque. Karlsson has written a story with bureaucratic nightmare scenarios written in a modern day setting which is both disturbing and entertaining at the same time. Well written and a delightful short read. I loved the compact format of the book too.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I loved this book right from the beginning. It is engaging, well written and historically fascinating. I had no idea about the Italian community in London during WW1. All the characters and what happens to each one keeps your interest throughout. Recommend!
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I was hoping that I would really enjoy this book but unfortunately this was not the case. I just could not get into all the 'Jewishness' and found too many of the situations too bizarre to be credible. Simon and Shylock meeting in a graveyard and the former taking the latter home for dinner? Although, the author clearly has a way with words, his recreation of The Merchant of Venice was too strange for me.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I requested this book as I have recently sent off my DNA sample to Ancestry.com. This book specifically focuses on the connection between Black Americans and how they can trace their history back to other countries through DNA testing. It will appeal to scholars interested in Black history and the importance of recent Scientific advancements in enabling individuals to be able to make reparations and reconcile their past. Well researched and presented but not something that I personally was able to appreciate as a book.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. This is a well written story about a Nigerian family. The book starts with a bang when Paul goes missing.I was excited that this would be a book like ones written by Adichie about political conflict in Africa with a compelling story line. For me, when the story went back in time telling about the family history and giving background information about the family, I lost interest and found it hard to finish the book. I think this author has promise and this story may appeals to others.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I have to say that I was disappointed with this book. The script to use with the children seems rather uninspiring and simplistic. There are only four questions per page although there are extension questions at the end of the book. If I was purchasing this book, I would not think it provides value for money and I would not buy any more in the series. It need more photos and a different presentation to be more successful in my opinion.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. This is the second time of reading this book and it is not in the same caliber as WILD by Cheryl Strayed or as good as his other travel books in content. Nevertheless, it is written by Bill Bryson so how can you go wrong?! It has the same dry humor and insightful comments and observations as his other books. Well worth reading for those interested in taking the walk themselves, want to enjoy a good light read or just be be entertained.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I loved this book. It is so nice to see a book that is well written, concise and well researched with fantastic photos. I would recommend this for Grades 4 and up and for adults too who will also get a lot of information about different women who have made a difference in the world.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I enjoyed this book. It was well written and dealt with the topic of unconditional love. Reminded me a bit of Raskalnikov and Sonya a little in Crime & Punishment. I look forwarded to further novels by the is author.
