This was a fantastic story of people facing a seemingly hopeless and desperate future. The US has been decimated by a flu-like virus with only a small number of people surviving and congregating together. King does a great job of exploring the main characters reasons for gong on, personalities and all their flaws, and throwing in a great bad guy. King knows how to tell a story and he does it so well with The Stand.

It's an interesting story - there are some great nuggets in here, ways to live your life better. It's not told in the "self help" format, but with good examples of how you can really truly become a better person, by making simple choices and decisions.
