Though I found the idea interesting, and the narrative amusing - halfway into the book I found myself losing interest and hoping for it to finish. Probably because by that time the newness of the concept had worn off, and too little of substance remained.
Although the book is written elegantly I just couldn't feel involved with the story and the characters...
I don't usually read (or like) war books because I either get irritated on lack of reality or the book is too realistic and therefore depressing. Catch-22 manages to portray the absurdity and chaos of war, without being too heavy a read. Definitely one of my favourite books ever.
