I would have given this a 4 but I hated the love triangle and wish that teen authors would let it go. It was a fun book. Not great but a solid read.
Still is one of my favorite books. This won't be the last time I read it.
I want to be clear up front. This book is not going to be for everyone. It is bleak. It isn't really much of a mystery. It doesn't follow conventional writing rules. You might not like the main character. You probably shouldn't like the main character. If you find yourself reading it and wondering why. Stop, walk away and find yourself another novel.
If, however, you are like me and the writing catches you immediately. If Taylor despite all his flaws and heartbreak speaks to you. If the writing style seems to crackle in your brain. Keep reading because you are in for a treat.
I actually found Bruen's writing style a little off putting in The White Trilogy. Enough that I had never gone back but I decided I was going to watch the TV show this summer and before I did I should give the book a shot. I am glad I did. I have immediately moved onto the next in the series.

I understand why people like this. I appreciate the art but the story just didn't connect with me. Interestingly, I actually think the story was a little rushed. I probably would have liked this a lot more in novel form but the manga wasn't my thin.
Brandon Sanderson has become problematic for me. I love his characters but his ability to finish a story in a satisfying manor continues to be a problem for me. This is the 3rd series he has written that I feel has ended in a chaotic mess. This book had some brilliant parts but often felt like work reading it. It was closer to a 2 1/2 star for me.
I might have not even finished it but I really did care about the characters. He also spends way too long getting to the point. I stopped reading Stormlight books because they never seemed to go anywhere. I would have cut about 100 pages out of this one.
This may well have been my last Sanderson book. I don’t see myself starting another series and I have already given up on the ones that are still going.

I loved this book. It was full tilt insane but I there for the ride.
This one took a little while to get going but once it did it went out with a bang!
Many years ago I made a few predictions on where I thought this series was going to go. While the journey has been a surprise I was pretty close on the destination.
On a side note I can’t help but think Ian Rankin and Michael Connelly planned this together. We should probably keep them separated. They are dangerous.

I wanted to like it way more than I did. It just took too long to get going and I didn't really feel attached to the story. It was probably closer to a 2.5 for me.
I am a sucker for a good Groundhogs Day book…
I am not going to write anything about this book.
You should know nothing.
Enjoy.

I really loved this book. It was creepy and full of horror. The world and the magic system were fascinating and I grew to really care about all the characters. I can’t wait to see where the next book goes.
This was a great read. Jen Williams successfully moves into the thriller field. Full of mystery and creepiness.
Sadly,
I may be coming to the end for this series. I don't mind that I don't like Jack but I really don't like much of anyone else either. Sometimes the books are just too bleek even for me. I am also pretty much done with the character Emily. He is a brilliant writer but it might not be for me any longer. I will try one more.

This one was hard to read. It’s not listed as a true crime novel but it is.
This series just keeps getting better and better. I am a little bummed I have only one more book until I am caught up.
I am a fan of this series and can’t wait to read the next one. At one time in my life I was a journalist. I didn’t pursue it for a lot of different reasons but these books have spoke to that long dormant journalist. The next book is going in a direction that I think will propell this series ito rare air.
This book was quite an investment in time and I mostly enjoyed it. However, I am not sure I enjoyed it enough to read another book in the series. It had a lot of little annoying problems for me. One it could have been wait shorter. I felt like their was a bunch of padding in this story.m I was constantly waiting for it to go somewhere new. It suffered from stupid character syndrome. Places where characters would do something to move the plot but what they did was obviously the worst choice in the situation. The battle scenes started to feel very much like the last battle I read. Overall, the book was frustrating for me. I wanted to like it more than I ultimately did.
Dead Inside: An absolutely gripping serial killer thriller and your favourite new crime series (Maggie Jamieson thriller, Book 1) by Noelle Holten
I have mixed feelings about this book. The subject matter was hard to read, especially in detail. I figured out the mystery pretty early on (not unusual for me). I didn't love it but I didn't hate it. The one thing I will say is the writing was very good and I liked the detectives. Since it is a first book I will absolutely read the next one because I think the subject matter put me off more than anything.
This was easily my favorite book I have read this year. I would also put it in my top 50 horror novels of all time. A love letter to slasher movies. The writing was amazing and the book refused to be put down.
Good first book with a very interesting world. A little slow in a few places but it was mostly during some of the world building sections. I enjoyed it and will definitely read the next one.
This was barely a 3 for me. It is not nearly as funny as it thinks it is. I was amused from time to time but I am not sure I am going to be reading the next book. I talked myself into this one so I won’t rule it out.
I loved this book. It played with the fantasy tropes in a way I found electrifying. What’s more, I loved how the story ended but left me wondering where the hell it was going next.
I love the Murderbot books so much. This one was my 2nd favorite (the first being my favorite). I am glad another book will be out soon. Also, someone needs to make this into a television series.
I liked the first one more but this was still a solid entry.
I really love these books and look forward to reading the next one. They are not deep but rollicking good fun.
I thought the ending suffered from a little too much cleverness but it did not change that this was a brilliant book. I look forward to reading more by the author.....very soon.
This is it for me and this series. It is well written but I find it to be way too long. Epic for epics sake. I know why people love this series and I understand why people like long books in long series but the story moves too little for so much effort. I struggled through each of the three books because I love Sanderon’s writing but in the end my patience for really long books and really long series is razor thin. I kept putting this down and reading something else. Chalk this one up for not for me.
The Trouble With Peace: Book Two: The Sunday Times Bestseller That’s Causing Anarchy in Fantasy (The Age of Madness) by Joe Abercrombie
No one is writing better fantasy than Joe Abercrombie. It’s going to be a long year waiting for that next book.
One too many crimes stopped it from being a five star.
