My Side of the Mountain is an intriguing book if you like the outdoors. Most of the book describes his new life in the wilderness. Sam is a teen boy who doesn’t like his old life in the apartment with his huge family because of how small the apartment is. His dad tells him about the land his dad used to own. Then Sam thinks to himself and says that he should find the land, which he does and hollows out the inside of a huge hemlock tree.
I gave the book a five star rating because it has a very descriptive setting and the neat facts about how to build beds from sticks and how to make traps.
Overall I enjoyed the book very much. It was full of adventure and sadness.
