the book The Alchemyst: The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel by Michael Scott was amazing. twins sophie and josh found them selves at the wrong place at the wrong time, when Nicholas Flamel was ransacked by dee for a magical book that holds the secrets to the universe. josh ended up saving the day by ripping some pages of the book that turns out to be really important. they end up running away from dee for he was once Nicholas' pupil and had learned powerful and ancient magic. it was overall a really great book. i cant wait to read the next one.
i didn't like the book Graceling by Kristin Cashore. the first couple of chapters were odd, confusing, and down right bad. i ended up not finishing it. i stopped at about page 80 and it was just bad. it sounded so good when i read the back of the book but i found it a little misleading. it said that she could kill anybody with her bear fingers so i thought it would be a book full of battles keeping me on the edge of my seat. but instead it was a couple of "deaths" here and there, it wasn't even killing it was giving them a pill to knock them out. but she doesn't even want to use her abilities, she would rather be normal. and why choose the eyes to identify them, i would have chosen a mark or tatoo. overall i would have changed things to make the book better.
In the book The Son of Neptune beloved character Percy Jackson wakes up in San Francisco with no memory of his past. He ends up in the Roman version of camp Half-Blood. Along with Hazel Levesque and Frank Zhang he sets off to Alaska to free death from chains. Along the way they go through past of all three protagonists. This is a great second book to the Kane series. In the last book Carter and Sadie Kane found out that they are descendants from two major Egyptian pharaoh blood-lines. they also found out that they were each hosting a god witch at the end of the book they "released".
They start the book off with a great hook. it starts off with Carter and Sadie with two new recruits named Walt and Jaz. they are at museum trying to find the first out of 3 scrolls to reawaken the sun god Ra. they find it and as soon as Sadie picks it up spirits come out and attack. after that a battle breaks loose and Jaz ends up sacrificing herself to save the other three.
In the book it is just battle after battle with a few puzzles here and there. Rick Riordan is my favorite author, I love mythology and he takes the three best known gods, Greek, Roman, and Egyptian, and made them into there own series. i think mythology is great topic to write about because there are endless possibilities of what you can do with it. i think its funny because Rick Riordan makes little references to his other books.
the book Throne of Fire is full of excitement from one page to another. Even when Carter and Sadie are in an nursing home he finds a way to fit in a huge back story and still have time to have allot of excitement.
The book great overall, with them going to an under world nursing home for the gods to an invisible mansion on top of a factory in New York the Kane's adventures never seem to stop. I can't wait for show more the next book that Rick Riordan publishes show less
