Fascinating exposition of the origins and ethos of cool. Worth revisiting, even though it is quite dated (published in 1984).
A pleasant read. Not a huge amount of thematic content, but fast-paced and interesting. Insights into circus life, the experience of being elderly and feeling depressed and powerless. I totally missed the Jacob parallels until I read the discussion questions.
