I got halfway through chapter 3 and quit, because it was annoying. Where is it going? It has not yet gotten to any point. I can't tell if it's fiction or not. Also, Lou is obviously irritating. He will be proven wrong, and will change his ways, and find peace. I enjoy books on this topic, and I'm sure the message ultimately is fine, I'm just into the way it's written, that's all.
The first part was kind of tedious for me, in that it was recollections of the good part of the boy's childhood. I just wanted to read about the addiction. Once the book finally got to talking about addiction, it was pretty interesting and informative. This book thoroughly covers all angles of what it's like being a parent in this situation. It was good.
The illustrations are really good and the story is compelling.
This is a required textbook for a class. It is NOT an exciting read. Sorry. It's not helped by the fact that the subject matter is incredibly dry. I do the things this book talks about for a living, and it's WAAAAAAAY more interesting to do than it is to read about it. Just sayin' . . .
It was good; I want to read the next one. That's a positive sign, right? I'm not really an avid comic book reader, so I'm not the best one to write a review, but I like the fact that it's illustrated by a woman, and the women are depicted somewhat realistically, you know given that it's a comic book and all.
This series of books by Ellen Byerrum is fun. They're good to read when you just want to enjoy reading and not have to think about anything dense or intellectual. I also like the fashion angle.
Come to find out, "Awakening Lovingkindness" is an abridged version of this book. This one has four extra chapters. It's completely awesome. Pema Chodron is the best.
Honestly, this book is kind of boring, i.e. not the most exciting read. An "introduction" to something should be a bit more engaging, to make a newcomer to something interested enough to complete the book. Just my opinion. As far as I can tell, the content of the material is fine, it's just the delivery that does it for me.
In retrospect, this book kind of sucked. It didn't do it for me. For the most part, it was just like reading a romance novel, which isn't my preferred genre. I don't know what I was expecting.
This book is nothing short of amazing. It's in a large format, has great reproductions, captions, and maps. This is the best book of Edward Curtis photos that I've seen, with some photos from all areas of his career.
Dang, the ending totally leaves you hanging and you will HAVE to immediately acquire "Eclipse." It's best to be prepared for this eventuality.
This book was really good. I pretty much highlighted the whole thing and used up all my highlighter ink. Apparently my inner child needs a whole lot of healing.
It's true, this book sucked me in (no vampire pun intended), and I couldn't put it down! I read all 500 pages in a 24-hour period. It was totally a guilty pleasure kind of book; it wasn't intellectually stimulating or particularly philosophical, but we all need books like this to read every once in awhile. It's a vampire teenage romance. What more could you ask for?
