Writing Memoir in Flashes: Creative Ways to Tell Your True Stories, One Memory at a Time by Lita Kurth
Kurth’s presentation is clear, concise, and structured. Breaking the material into scaffolded topics (e.g. Inspiration, Brainstorming, Obstacles, etc.), each section offers practical tips and tricks for the writer; with a quoted example or two from literature or published memoirs to illustrate the point [many of them, exquisitely poignant]; followed by a writing challenge with sample prompts. Kurth includes advice on shaping and organizing a narrative, revision for publication or alternative media (e.g. open mics, Tik Tok, podcasts), and more. Overall, an inspiring and useful read.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.A good read for fans of Lee Childs’ Jack Reacher tales. A testosterone-drenched, conspiracy-laden suspenser with high body counts and international intrigue. A bit formulaic, but fast-paced and gripping while hitting on some very timely themes: bio-engineering, cyber-sabotage, the illegal arms market, and human trafficking.
