I can't even begin to tell you how much I love this book. I read it many years ago completely picked at random and I just loved it. I have read it many times since and recommend it to everyone. It is not normally the type of book I would read, but a great story is a great story.
I really enjoyed this book. I bought it a few years ago at a used book sale and for some reason the author sounded familiar to me, but I couldn't place him and for $.25 what the hell! I had the book for a while before I noticed the author was the same as a book I read a long time ago called Mine. I had really loved this book! I was so excited I looked up the author and the reviews and for some reason I was surprised that the reviews looked so good. It got me excited to put it next on my to read list and I just loved it! Great characters and great story! It just sucked you in......I have read a lot of comparisons to The Stand which of course is a classic. Similair but definetely its own story. Highly recommended!
I actually read Lasher first, it was on a whim when I was in the bookstore looking for something new to read. I had never read Anne Rice before, but was a big fan of Stephen King and was looking for something in that section. Something made me buy it but I did not have any idea it was the second in a trilogy. I loved it!!! Of corse it did not take me long to figure out the first book was the Witching Hour and loved it as well! Since then I have read (almost) all of Anne Rice's novels. I love them all, but truly the lives of the Mayfair witches are the best.
