A strong text, but quite formal. Not the most readable.
Excellent textbook. Clear and a very nice selection of topics.
An excellent book. Well written, well researched, and a very interesting topic.
Silicon Second Nature: Culturing Artificial Life in a Digital World, Updated With a New Preface by Stefan Helmreich
A few interesting observations, but for the most part I thought this book wasn't well argued and the writing was mediocre in places. It's an interesting topic, though.
This is an extraordinary resource on the history of the bomb at the debate around the bomb in the decade after Hiroshima.
Fascinating interviews. The introduction is an excellent overview of some of the different interpretations of quantum mechanics. The intro also has a nice discussion of some of the key paradoxes or riddles of quantum mechanics.
A bit of a polemic, but nevertheless quite good and thought provoking. I read this a long time ago; I think in 1992, and it had big effect on me. I had been a vegetarian already for 4 years, but this book helped me better articulate some of the reasons behind my decision.
One of the best pieces of non-fiction I've ever read.
