I think this is a very valid book. Children can forget that their parents are first of all, people, and secondly their parents. But it still brings a positive aspect to combining an old life with a new. It's very touching, beautiful illustrations.
A good story that imparts the value of hard work and independence, and not rewarding laziness. Also brings up the hard facts of being shallow. This can be related to children in a wonderful way
An important version of the story. Children need to see themselves in books, and white girls don't always cut it. A charming book, and the generosity of Adelita towards her step-family at the end is inspiring
Great bold attention grabbing illustrations, slightly updated stories, not all endings are happy, which can be beneficial. Recommended
Solid story, creation stories are always interesting, but it would be good to point out the flaws of Turtle, for example taking credit for Possum's work. Would create a good discussion afterward
A very important book, not only do these trees "count" but they count, they are incredibly important! Good example of conservation and helping the environment for young kids, great message
A classic, this book is never outdated. The feelings of the kids, the misunderstandings, these are things that still occur today. Hilarious and touching. Good for any age
Excellent book for learning the ABC's. Very fun, following the parents pushing their children to bed; each letter explains something the children are doing before they go to bed.
A great combination of the alphabet and art, with snippets of information about each sculpture
A very important book. This book follows Eleanor from her unhappy childhood to her participation in politics in the White House. No matter what she was told, she did what she had to do, a very admirable quality
Big haunting eyes convey the fear of this family making their way to something better. A great book for younger kids to introduce them to some of history's uglier sides
A cute book about embarrassment, fear, and friendship. Great for kids to learn to laugh at themselves
A great story about compassion for animals, or anything needing a helping hand
A cute story about finding your place and finding a family. A very happy ending
Fred eats socks at Father's house, Fred barks at Mother's house. Deals with the aspects of divorce and going between two households. Of COURSE Fred stays with the daughter
Very humorous, could be a very great way to get kids to remember the Greek God and Goddesses, humor is a great way to build memory
Extremely witty and cute. Modest is "You don't go running around telling people you make the best cookies, even though you know it's true." Puts a smile on your face and delivers the message home
A busy and fun story, kids can relate to each letter of the alphabet, since each one has a certain personality
A simple cute book with simple cute illustrations following Beaver as she/he goes through sewers and lakes, trying to find a way home
A must read for children. It's important to kids to know that our actions have consequences on animals, sometimes irreversible ones
An inspiring book for anyone who wants to follow their dreams, no matter what the obstacles
A cute book following the adventures of a gingerbread man finding his way back to his classroom
An important book for all; Helen Keller is an inspiration to everyone that felt they "can't." Here is someone who did, and never gave up
An adorable book about what is really there and not there, and the length a dragon will go to to get attention. Great for read-alouds
Creative illustrations follow a story of a rabbit discovering information on wolves along with the reader, plus there's a bonus happy ending!
Great amazing incredibly cute illustrations. A cute book about friendships, good for young kids
A cute and sad story of a boy will hate you before you have a chance to hate him. A great story about how one person can have an effect on another, and how much we really do matter
Sad and heartbreaking, but a great addictive story. This book might be considered for slightly older children, because of the honesty of the children's situation with their mother
A sad and angering book. Great to bring awareness to children about following the leader, teaches kids to stand up for their own beliefs, with great personal pictures from the survivors
A great tale of good vs evil, forgiveness and friendship. Amazing story, really stirs the imagination
