This is the third Jackson Brodie novel. Previous knowledge of this protaganist is useful, as some characters from the first two novels make appearances. Yes, Jackson has found himself in another spot of bother, he has unwittingly found himself in a train going in the wrong direction and losing his identity. This does not impede his efforts to find a missing mother and child or to resolve issues in his personal life.
We are introduced to Jackson Brodie who finds himself enveloped in some very unusual cases. Jackson is a Private Eye who has found himself investigating mysterious deaths that happened many years ago. The surviving members of the deceased are looking for answers as to why there loved ones were the victims.
The setting is Cambridge, the characters are colourful and well developed.

As the blurb describes - a wonderful "Dickensian" mix of characters. A most intriguing book with the wonderful backdrop of Edinburgh. The individual stories of each character in itself makes for an interesting story, but combined and intertwined into the whole mystery makes for a delightful read. I now wish to read "Case histories"!
A well loved book that was raved about at Book Club. So many secrets to unravel and marvel over.
Breath by Tim Winton
To be swept away with the imagery Tim provided was enough to take away one's breath! A retrospective view of growing up and how the influence of others in the community can make an impression that will make a difference to your life.
Powerful book - looking forward to discussing it at Book Club next month. Helen Garner is a wonderful author who engages the reader from the very first sentence.
