I love the idea of an overpowered protagonist who struggles, and willingly tries to become a part of, the mundane after a lifetime of war. He tries his best, he really does, but is thwarted by helpful and nosy neighbors, stubborn and perceptive teenagers, and glorious animals.

This is a fun read. The writing is humorous, though after the first few chapters, the clever phrases do preen in their frequency, when a more restrained sprinkling would likely have greater impact. The story could also use a closer copyedit: there were some persistent grammatical errors (it's vs. its; there vs. their) and several sentences missing qualifying or descriptive words. With the quality of the writing (clever phrases), these simple errors are baffling.

These hiccups didn't stop my enjoyment of this story, however, and I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
