Other than the last 20-30 pages of the book being a glossary/preview/etc, so I thought there was more to read than there was, it was good. Will eventually pick up the rest of the series to find out what is going on.
I enjoyed this book immensely. When it started off I was a little put off by the topic and writing style, but by the 3rd or 4th chapter I couldn't put it down.
I really liked the twists, the characters, and especially the ending.
As usual I wish they show more "after", how they live after everything is done, but I'm glad they don't, because not knowing is fun.
SO MANY REFERENCES!
I have so many things I now have to look up.

Simple review... I found it pretty odd at first. I didn't know what was going on. By the end it started to make sense.
Its really nothing like scalzi's normal writing. Its very serious. Kinda dark. Very short.

The only downside to this book (for me) is that I figured out what was going on pretty early. I don't think it was designed to be a thriller style where you don't find out until the very end.
I loved the characters. I loved the growth, and admittedly teared up a bit at the very end.

I can't exactly remember why this book was on my to-read list. I think I saw it on one of the unshelved.com bookclub notes and thought it was a cool premise.
I really wasn't expecting how old fashioned it was.
It was apparently first published in 1970.
I still thought it was a very cute short story. Most of the characters had depth. I can actually related it to some of the few school memories I still have.
I don't think I know anyone I would recommend it to, but its an insight into young girls (which sounds a little creepy) that I wasn't expecting. I'm betting its pretty outdated though.

They are getting a lot better, this one is one of my favorites. Such awesome characters.
I'm not sure how to explain this book. I liked the initial premise, which is why I continued to the end, but it was very very hard to read.
I felt there was a lot of minor characters added and made things hard to follow. Most of the major ones I really liked though (Janet, Kelly, Minty, Rachael, etc).
Perspective jumped quite suddenly at times (may have been an e-reader artifact) and helped to get me lost.
Even sometimes just the writing felt forced/run-on/needs editing.
I would not recommend it, but overall I did like the story, just not a lot of the details / story telling.

The Rapture of the Nerds: A tale of the singularity, posthumanity, and awkward social situations by Cory Doctorow
It was special.
Took me forever to read. Mostly due to changing jobs and schedules, but also just because it took a lot of effort to digest. Was really expecting a Doctorow book, but it felt a lot more like stross.
I'm not really sure I processed most of it, especially really the very end.

This book started off kinda preachy. I've heard/watched some of doctorows google talks about the new signed bootloader / hardware stuff. I think he spoke way better at google.
I see now why it was done.
The book was great. I loved the characters, and the story.
If you are a fan of his other books, i'd highly recommend it.

It was okay. I found it very unforgiving if you didn't know things ahead of time.
For example, the book was recommended to me so I never read the blurb about the book. Within a page or two I got really confused. Turns out the "world" was the inside of a balloon the size of a planet.
I know a couple of times I had to go back pages to check if i missed something.
That being said, they had some interesting overarching stories that were eventually reveled. I don't think I'd recommend the book to anyone, but i wouldn't discourage anyone who was interested. It just wasn't for me.

You know how they don't say don't judge a book by its cover? I know I judged it based on the title. I really thought I'd get a actionesk piece from the mad scientist's daughters point of view.
Instead I got a very touching life/love story of a daughter of a (mad) scientist.
I grabbed the sample off amazon. By the end of it I *needed* to find out what happened next so picked up the book right away. I'm not sure if I would recommend this book to a lot of people, but I really enjoyed it. I loved the characters. Especially some of the secondary ones. Things were described in such a way that I could believe I was there experiencing the same thing.

This is the second time reading it. It stirs up the same feelings in me as it did before. I can honestly say it makes me feel incredibly alone in this world. The deep loyal feelings everyone has for eachother are so.. touching.
This book has given me tears/shivers in some of the exciting bits, and gets me very depressed in the sad bits.
Very enjoyable book.

WATERWALKER! WATERWALKER!
I find like the other commonwealth saga books, he's a little wordy at times, but overall a great story. I can't wait to read the rest of the books.

I enjoyed this book. I loved the character development. I wish some of the other characters were a little deeper, but it was all pretty good. I would recommend this to others. Plus the whole running mystery stayed that way until nearly the end, which was awesome. I hate when its too obvious.
A bit better than the previous book.
Too much dialog, I kept finding myself going back a few pages going "who was fintan talking to again". Kinda some cool concepts/story.
Kinda Waiting for the next book

Simply. I found the way the story was told to be a little odd, but really helped to paint a good picture.
I found myself often wondering about the events while not even reading the book. That to me says I enjoyed it (and was a little weirded out as the events were very plausible from my point of view)

It started off a bit wordy and I was afraid it would be very descriptive and not much on story, but by the 2nd or 3rd chapter I was pretty hooked.
My friend phoebe recommended this to me on friday as there was a .99 special for the ebook on amazon. I don't think I even got around to reading the synopsis, sorta just decided that since it was a recommendation and so cheap, why not. Especially after someone said Dresden (I have heard awesome things about the series, and loved the tv show)
I think this was my first urban fantasy novel. I found I couldn't put it down. I was 50% done before 24 hours was up. I finished the rest of the book today.
It had a lot of the god/heaven-hell mythology tied into it. Angels, Demons, Other things. I'm not really sure what to say about that, but I thought it was put together to form a good book. Even the minor characters seemed to enough depth to pull you in and like them (or hate them).
I've already picked up the next book and will get to it asap.

Such awesome new characters were introduced this book. I was kinda sad at the lacking of murphy (she took a trip at the start of the book), but the new characters and the chance to expand existing ones more than made up for it.
All I can, and want to say, is dammit, when is the next one coming out.
One of the most messed up books i've ever, and probably will ever read. This is the second time i've read this book. Both times I've thought it was messed up, and enjoyed it up until the ending. The ending was a bit on the weaker side compared to the entire book.
That being said, I'd still recommend it if you are not easily squeamish
Also, i'm still looking forward to the singularity.

I enjoyed it. Not as good as old man's war or the rest of them.
Can't wait for the next one.
Will buy when the entire book is out.

I flip flopped a lot on how great this book was. That is until the ending. The ending solidified it as a great book.
That being said, it needs more cinder!
Now I gotta wait a whole year for the next one :(

I would say its by far the worst Cory Doctorow book i've read (and I've read a large number of them). It reads like an advertisement / fangasiming for all of his favorite things online. Lots of name dropping.
There are a large number of elements of the book I liked. I really want to build stuff, even tempted to try to get re-involved with the local hackerspace. I found the ending a bit disappointing.
I'm not sure I'd recommend it, but I don't regret reading it.

Enjoyed it. Not as good as old mans war, but the characters were good, the format was interesting but still more engaging than normal short stories. I'm glad I waited for the entire package instead of trying to do them week to week.
Enjoyed the 3rd book in the series. I've heard rumours that there might be more, I'm actually liking where this ended off, so I hope they don't.
That being said, I love the characters and the setting and would gladly keep reading more.
If it wasn't for Bobbie in the second book, this would have probably been my favourite one. So many awesome characters.

Its a pretty good book, just not a great book for me.
I really enjoyed the beginning of the book. I loved the characters and the development, and the issues. There is really nothing about the first half I didn't like. Admittedly I found the whole teenage love/lust stuff really hitting a bit too close to home, but I can imagine the author went through the same things.
Sadly the second half.. I didn't like how mean the main character got. How mean he was to other people. The whole "who turned me" mystery never felt like a mystery to the reader. All clues really lead one way, then near the end it was obvious you were lead astray.
The book turned out to be more of a thriller than a nice story than I would like (and I like thrillers).

I enjoyed the book. It's very short. Less than an hour to read. I was very afraid at the start as there were misspelled words and a lack of punctuation but quickly realized that it was intention (i thought it was bad ocr, even from amazon).
Overall a very powerful book. Very interesting look at intelligence. Echoes a lot of what I have been thinking. I'll admit I teared up at the end.
A would recommend.
