Very interesting, intriguing view of famous primatologist who studied up close chimpanzees for many years in Gombe Tanzania. Her husband was a videographer. She gave the chimpanzees names. She was first of a kind with chimpanzees.
Excellent snippets and great stories of background to poetry and short stories by Henry Lawson including his competition with Banjo Paterson in The Bulletin. Truly an amazing character is Lawson.

Incredibly dry book with very wordy description of the ins and outs of royalty and how many people they killed in battle or as traitors or heretics. The footnote asterisks are very hard to find. Eventually I got into the flow of it after about 2 or 3 chapters. The English just plundered France ruthlessly. It gets quite grim re how they tortured people to death back then. Very brutal.
