The main character started out as very unpleasant and unlikable, but learned from her mistakes and got better.
Quite enjoyable, and better than the first one. Lots of historical details included.
I enjoy the books in The Queen’s Chair series where the main character has to travel up into the mountains more than the city-centric stories.
Best of the bunch so far. The island setting of Corfu added to the fun.
A rollicking ride. Novik continually took what I expected to happen and added another layer and another. Superb.
A lighthearted cozy mystery,  good enough to keep reading the series. The narrator did a good job with the voices. No great themes or deep writing, but enjoyable and good for a diversion. There were some early events that the main character should have caught on to right away, and you, the reader, will spot them immediately.
Very confusing until the last 2/3 of the book, which “explained” all the confusing, multiple versions of events going on.
Weak. The bit with Mrs. Pargeter and the other lady trying to escape over farm fields on a tractor was really, hopelessly stupid.
Great! I did get a bit tired of the seemingly endless “practice runs” in the gym, though.
Really good! One of the better Hugh Corbett books so far.
The main character cuddly became snippy and self-centered and just unlikeable -- a total turn around the the  same character in the first two books.. Due to this, I won’t finish the series.
Fun first entry in the series, setting up Lillie for some good stories to come.
A worthy successor to the Weary Dragon Inn series.  It was a delight to read from beginning to end!
I got fed up with the ridiculous way all the women were portrayed.
A bit too grim for me. I felt depressed when completed. The story is really well executed, however, and the intricate history and storyline are so well integrated. It ties up the series neatly.
Absolutely delightful. I want to reread it right now! Travis Baldree does an awesome job of narrating his own book, too.
The greatest of all time for me, with The Chronicles of Narnia coming in next.
This is a world to get lost in. I love the depth of the world and the characters. The story stays interesting throughout and has a satisfying conclusion, with more adventures promised.
Enjoyable, cute story, with lots of humor. I think it works well as an audio book, which adds some umpf to the narration, and is good to listen to while doing other  things. I probably would have been bored with it as an ebook.
Fairly simplistic. It was ok, but just ok.
I got fed up with the seemingly endless jumps around in time and the zillion little sub-plots being thrown at me. I felt like the writer was just playing games to drag his readers on. Lots of filler.  And the initial story introduction in Book 1, with the main characters  just having “finished” the equivalent of high school, suddenly becoming major kingdom rulers, or the world savior, was just too much.
I just don’t care enough about any of the characters.  It’s just not my type of story.
