Really enjoying this book right now. It speaks to the importance of doing a digital declutter.

If we look at the way we use technology on a daily basis, Id say that 70% of it is wasted time. The amount of time I spent checking Instagram to read a text a friend sent, and then getting pulled down the rabbit hole by Instagram reels. It's pretty dark. He mentioned being intentional with what tech we use and to only allow the technology that impacts your life fully positively back into your life.

Ive started doing this myself. Only in small ways. Not checking my phone when Im on transit, leaving my phone charging at the front door when I get home. Only checking social media on my computer and using web blocking tech to get rid of the reels and home feed. Already, Im more bored. And in this boredom, I'm reading more, making more music. Even when I do consume media, it feels more intentional and less like a comfort blanket for when I feel bad.

I found purchasing a movie or TV show on Apple TV is much better than scrolling through Netflix and getting sucked into it. I only end up watching something that I sought out, the actual streaming quality is much better, and if I want to binge something I literally need to pay money for it. I recently started a series called Lain, and I bought it intentionally. It's artistic and interesting, and Im able to watch an episode or two and put it down.
