Oh Dakota!!!! You left me wanting more (in such a good way)!!!!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Sarah Patt's 2nd novel, Dakota and getting to better know the people in her life. The combination of romance and mystery plays so well with the contemporary family aspect of the story. I loved the journey from Texas to Massachusetts and back...and seeing Dakota blossom in to such an incredible and wise young adult.
The family values that are laced throughout the pages of this novel are so refreshing - and the fact that they are a unique family makes that even more special. This book is great for young adult readers as well as adults.
Sarah's writing flows so easily and she gently immerses the reader into Dakota's world. I found myself reading slower as I got close to the end because I wasn't ready to finish the story. Looking forward to a 3rd book.....pretty please!!!!!

I truly enjoyed Dakota's story in "Because of Savannah". We read it for my book club. One of the things I liked was the ease of the story. From the start, the author envelopes you into the lives of her characters. I could picture everything in my head as I was reading (would make a great movie btw) because of the wonderfully descriptive writing. The contemporary time period was very enjoyable as I tend to lean towards historical fiction so this was a refreshing change.
There is something for everyone in this book...plot twists and mystery coupled with romance, loss and family relationships. I found the positive attitude of the protagonist, Dakota, to be so inspiring - especially during these difficult pandemic times. It was nice to get lost in her world. Dakota has a maturity that is admirable, while still being very much her own age. Her brother Luke's plot line is also very heartwarming and he just seems like the kind of person you would like to be neighbors with. Honestly I had to slow down my reading towards the end of the book because I just didn't want it to end.
This book is a wonderful read for such a variety of ages as well. My 16 year old niece as well as my 70ish mother are also reading it for our family book club (along with my two 40-something sisters). We are super excited to discuss it at our next meeting.
I am really looking forward to the sequel which is hopefully coming out this year. Well done Sarah Patt! Thank you for inviting us into the loves of some show more very special people. show less

Trevor sucked me in from the first chapter and held me at the edge of my seat the entire read. I found myself staying up at night, using the flashlight from my mobile telephone, to read long past my bedtime because I simply could not put it down.
This is the first novel by S. Hilbre Thomson - but you would not know that from her writing. I feel like she put a lot of thought in to the development and depth of her characters and this is one of the reasons the story and the feelings you get while reading the story are so strong.
The story takes place in New England, so if you live in or have visited Massachusetts or New Hampshire, you will appreciate the accuracy of the geographical references. I felt like I could really picture in my mind the darkness of Lake Winnipesauki in the off-season and it added to the thrill of the story.
The large cast of characters keeps you focused and really gives the story a multi-dimensional feel. The author does such an amazing job of sculpting the personalities of her characters - especially Matt - the "Badman" you are afraid of and yet also feel sympathy for at the same time.
Trevor is a thrilling, face-paced read that you are sure to enjoy!
