I loved this the first time I read it several years ago, and wanted to re-read it before I saw the movie. I loved it just as much this time.
Great story idea, poor execution. I thought the characters were one-dimensional and all spoke in the same voice. The plot was predictable and rather boring much of the time.
I did not even finish this. It is awful...poorly written and difficult to get through. I only read about half.
My teenage daughter received this as a Christmas gift, loved it, and went on to read the next two books in the trilogy. She has lent it to several friends, and I finally borrowed it from her to see what all the fuss was about. It's excellent. It's well-written and I love the very strong female main character. The social commentary is wonderful and something that every teenager should read and think about.
The jacket made this book sound wonderful. I couldn't get past the first few chapters, however. I found it boring and odd and a bit hard to follow at times.
Great story, very well-written, and an all around enjoyable read. The characters are realistic and three-dimensional and the story is suspenseful and entertaining.
Although this book was fairly enjoyable, I thought it was trying too hard to be a DaVinci Code. I liked the characters and enjoyed reading it, but I didn't LOVE it.
