A different kind of book focused on flowers. I never knew that every flower has a meaning. Well written, however, a bit unbelievable. But then I am a guy.
The book brings back memories growing up in a a similar background and our own village Karuppathur (similar to the description in the book), only 5 miles from the village (near Kulitalai, Tamil Nadu, which we visit every other year) described in the book. There is an extensive review at http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=97498753 where the author reads a chapter from the book (I thought that particular chapter read by her was irrelevant to the story in the book) and also excerpts from the first chapter. The author also does a question answer session. If you have similar roots, I strongly recommend reading this book to understand the culture of South India during 1890 - 1960.
