This book contains many interesting infographics that go beyond the normal baseball statistics. The graphics show off some of the cultural oddities and little-known aspects of baseball that I think even non-fans would enjoy.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I enjoyed this book right up until the end. I don't have a problem with how everything resolved, only with the writing of it. The book built nicely and was well-paced, and then suddenly it was just wrapped up. It felt very rushed.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I enjoyed this book, but not as much as I'd hoped. It grabs you early but does slow down as it progresses. Not a bad first effort writing-wise, but could have been cleaned up in parts. All in all, an enjoyable read but not one that blows you away.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I'm not especially well-versed in Roman history, but this seemed like a good overview. It doesn't dive very deep into the topic, but Saylor does a good job of leading you along the major stopping points in Rome's development.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. This book was an awesome read that I never wanted to put down, while simultaneously being very depressing. The author really nailed the character of Temple and made her very believable, despite her doing some thing that would otherwise be considered unbelievable. I did have a problem with the lack of quotations for dialog and I'm still torn about the ending, but I highly recommend the book, even if you don't like zombies.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I received this book through the Early Reviewers program.
The blurb intrigued me and I liked what I thought the plot was, but I didn't really enjoy the book. It was hard to get into, partly I think because it is a translation and partly because the beginning was not as tightly constructed as it could have been for my tastes. It felt like the author was trying to hard to "write" it instead of just telling the story.

This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. The best way to describe this book would be "fine." It isn't bad, and it isn't great. Somewhere in the middle. I liked the overall plot and some of the details (and a nice twist near the beginning), but the main character wasn't very well done and the interesting characters weren't explored enough. If a second one is released I'll read it, but I won't be waiting breathlessly for it.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.Having not read any of the previous books, I was a little lost at first. But I just accepted that there were references I wouldn't get and pushed on. I'm glad I did. I really enjoyed the book and I'm looking forward to starting back at the beginning with book one. I'd recommend this book, but I'd recommend starting at the beginning more.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I got this as a review copy from the Early Reviewers program here. Pretty good book, that improved as it went along. There were some character traits that felt forced, like Ray the main character's love of all things John Wayne. Or the sister's faith. It wasn't that these traits are inherently weird or anything, it was just how they were presented. It felt awkward. He did better when he revealed pieces of the characters personalities here and there. They all started off cardboard and he improved them at varying degrees along the way.
Overall, I liked the story and I'll check out the next one.
