My first Nicholas Sparks book.....I was pleasantly surprised. Two stories....wondered how they'd come together. Surprising and well crafted.
Fascinating story of 65-yr-old Maine farmer, who down on her luck, decides to ride a horse to California. Susanna Porter edited, Jennifer also credited.
Icelandic Detective Novel....Narration in English by an Icelander. A little plodding. Takes place on and near the Air Base with the International (Kevlick?) Airport on it.
A little long....trouble with so many characters, but good story. Great main character --very sad, of course.
Time-traveling mental state of young woman. Visits Azores during emotional upheaval to investigate her heritage. Customs and experiences of life in Azores
Audible voices were a little abrasive. Nice ending but found the rest a little long and tedious.

So astute...such a marvelous tale of the morays and social activities of the times. Plus a great romance story!

Not my favorite Louise Penny...Disagreeable family at same resort as Gamaches. Statue falls on daughter in the family.
Okay.....a little repetitious. Main character was a bit unbelievable, however I was impressed by the amount of research author had done. Read it for a Book Group meeting that took place at Joy's Club in FL.
Beautiful descriptions of magical circus. Fascinating premise that became repetative.
