In the third edition of her best-selling book, Barbara Joe Williams takes the novice writer on a journey from idea conceptualization to marketing the published work. Based on her own experience as an author and starting her own publishing company, Williams presents reflection questions, checklists, and a myriad of resources to enlighten writers on traditional, non-traditional, and self-publishing options. At no point does Williams insist that the methods presented in the book are industry “best practices” or will apply to every writer’s circumstance. Instead, she presents the steps she took and provides enough latitude for writers to customize the steps and processes based on their needs.

This book is a great “how to” for those in the brainstorming stage of becoming an author and straddling the fence on how to best proceed to their goal of published work.
