Written by newspaperman to capture Pioneer Days in Appanoose County Iowa. Early stories were interesting, biographical info about WS Manson very good for my research.

Florence Buck interviewed living members of the Rud, Schulberg and Shjeflo families while writing this book in 1980-1990. She visited Norway 3 times and scoured parrish records for birth dates and included pictures and copies. Most of the book is information about the North Dakota and Washington segments of the families.
