First: Certainly, it held my attention and is very popular likely for that reason.

Second: What is new about this book? Not much. The presence of a heroine is not new. Fairly new is the mainstream popularity of this theme, which is good. Popularity leads to normalcy and acceptance, both of which are good in this case.

Third: I was not impressed with the language. I felt guilty reading it because it seemed a waste of my time, more like a people magazine than a novel.
