-Who is the villain and who is the hero?
This is a classic example of a book which really develops the characters and makes you think about whether they are do-gooders or baddies.
-What is the main plot of the story?
Although there are many different stories within the book, the main plot is probably the chocolate festival. Although it is right at the end, it is the crucial point about what will happen.
-Is the narrator actually the main character?
It depends how you define the term "main character". If it means the person that is most involved in the story, then the answer is yes, she is the main character as most of the book is from her point of view. However, some chapters are written through the eyes of Reynaud. Does this mean he is also a main character? True, some of the story was told by him, but he was not actually involved deeply in the plot. If the main character means the person who had the most influence in the story, then it could range completely from one book to another.
I would give this book a high show more rating because I enjoyed it, however it is important to read the next book to discover the answers of a few points raised within the story. show less
